Industry self-discipline boosts industry development

2009 is the 60th anniversary of the founding of New China. China has become the largest producer and consumer of gold in the world, with the consumption of gold jewelry reaching 326 tons in 2008 and nearly 400 tons in 2009. At the same time, the consumption of domestic jewelry such as diamonds, rubies, emeralds and jade is also increasing. For a country with a population of1300 million and rapid economic development, China's jewelry consumption potential is huge, and the jewelry industry has a very broad prospect.

With the development of jewelry industry, jewelry not only enriches people's spiritual culture, but also shows consumers the overall image of jewelry industry. The intensification of competition, the process of global economic integration and the maturity of consumers' psychology and behavior all put forward more practical and clear requirements for the management behavior, integrity concept and service spirit of the jewelry industry. Industry self-discipline has become a topic of concern to the whole society.

In the 30 years of reform and opening up, the mainstream of jewelry industry is healthy and upward, and most enterprises are honest and law-abiding, which has also made great contributions to the development of national economy. Especially all kinds of products in the mainstream jewelry market in China (counters in major shopping malls, jewelry stores, jewelry markets, etc. ) It's generally good. However, some enterprises sometimes cheat consumers by shoddy and price war, especially in the tourist jewelry market and some collectible markets. It is difficult to guarantee the quality of products, which not only damages the interests of consumers, but also damages the overall image of the industry. On the other hand, with the rapid development of e-commerce, jewelry products under new sales modes such as online sales and TV shopping are mixed, and the proliferation and disorder of various foreign appraisal certificates have caused great market hidden dangers. Furthermore, driven by commercial interests, some appraisal institutions give up the principle of scientific justice, do not strictly implement national standards, and even issue certificates at will, which has caused great interests and reputation damage to businesses and consumers. Faced with these problems in the development of jewelry industry, trade associations (chambers of commerce) should give full play to the management function of industry self-discipline and play the role of organizing and guiding the standardized development of the industry.

In 2007, "Several Opinions of the General Office of the State Council on Accelerating the Reform and Development of Trade Associations" pointed out: "Trade associations shoulder the important responsibility of implementing industry self-discipline, and should focus on standardizing market order, improving various self-discipline management systems, formulating and organizing the implementation of professional ethics, vigorously promoting the construction of industry integrity, establishing and improving industry self-discipline management and restraint mechanisms, standardizing member behavior, coordinating member relations, and maintaining a fair competitive market environment." As pointed out in the Opinions, China Jewelry and Jade Jewelry Industry Association (referred to as China Treasure Association) has always regarded industry self-discipline as an important central task since the change of the third Council.

1. Promulgate a self-discipline convention to regulate industry behavior.

In February 2003, China Insurance Association took the lead in convening the "National Jewelry Industry Self-discipline Conference" in China, and jointly issued an initiative to the whole industry with the national quality inspection and industrial and commercial administrative departments to safeguard the healthy development of the jewelry industry and standardize the business behavior of jewelry enterprises. At the same time, China Jewelry Industry Self-discipline Convention was formulated and promulgated to guide the industry self-discipline. The meeting unanimously agreed to designate 2003 as the year of industry self-discipline. Since then, the self-discipline of jewelry industry has turned a new page and entered a new historical period. In February, 2009, faced with the rapid development of jewelry e-commerce, China Insurance Association issued the "China Jewelry (Diamond) E-commerce Industry Self-discipline Convention" in time, which put forward industry self-discipline requirements for online jewelry sales, standardized jewelry e-commerce behavior, and enhanced the consumer confidence of netizens. The promulgation and implementation of the two "self-discipline conventions" has brought industry self-discipline into an institutionalized and standardized system and promoted the all-round development of industry self-discipline work.

2. Perform regulatory functions and purify the jewelry market.

Over the past seven years since the promulgation of the Convention on Self-discipline of China's Jewelry and Jade Jewelry Industry, the China Insurance Association, together with the national quality inspection agency and with the close cooperation of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, has carried out quality supervision and inspection of the jewelry and jade jewelry market in more than 30 cities across the country, informed the whole industry of the inspection results, educated a number of illegal enterprises and commended a number of advanced enterprises, and further strengthened the self-discipline awareness of jewelry enterprises. In order to curb the disorderly discount and competitive price reduction brought by the price war in Beijing jewelry market, in 2005, China Insurance Association held a meeting on honesty and self-discipline in conjunction with major shopping malls in Beijing, and published a proposal on honesty and management in major domestic media to maintain the market order of "fair competition and standardized management", which won unanimous response and support from major jewelry shopping malls in Beijing. Since then, the phenomenon of disorderly discount in Beijing jewelry market has been suppressed to some extent. In July, 2007, after investigating the professional jewelry market in Beijing, China Insurance Association strengthened its supervision function in view of the irregular operation of the professional jewelry market, and launched a "fidelity sales" self-discipline alliance with Beijing 10 professional jewelry markets, and solemnly promised consumers the concept of honest management through the media, which promoted the healthy development of the professional jewelry market in Beijing.

3. Register certification trademarks to ensure consumer confidence.

In order to enable consumers to buy truly reassuring and satisfactory jewelry, maintain consumers' confidence, and standardize the business behavior of enterprises, China Insurance Association applied to the State Administration for Industry and Commerce for registration of two certification trademarks, namely, "Authentic Mark of China Pearl" and "Natural Emerald". In 2003, "China Pearl Authentic Logo" was put into use. By authorizing pearl enterprises to use certification marks, more and more consumers know and understand the role of authentic marks through online inquiry, and the pearl market in China has been further standardized. In 2008, the certification trademark of "natural jade" began to be officially promoted and used in the industry, and 13 enterprises have been authorized to use it. Certification trademark has become the most convincing identification of "natural jade", providing consumers with the simplest cognitive approach and further standardizing the business behavior of jade. The promulgation of these two certification trademarks has played a positive role in ensuring product quality, safeguarding consumers' interests and promoting the development of industry norms.

4. Promote brand building and enhance the image of the industry.

Brand building is based on the long term. A brand is the unity of popularity, credibility and reputation, and it is the true embodiment of the brand cultural influence of honesty and trustworthiness, customer satisfaction and trust. Starting from the height of promoting the development of the whole industry, China Insurance Association has vigorously implemented the brand strategy and has achieved fruitful results in brand cultivation. 100 More than one enterprise won the honor of "Famous Brand in China's Jewelry Industry", 47 enterprises won the title of "Famous Brand in China" with 6 1 products, and more than 30 honors of "Famous Trademark in China". These excellent enterprises cover all aspects of Chinese jewelry industry, from production and processing to wholesale and retail. They are self-disciplined and self-reliant, and have become the benchmark and banner of China's jewelry industry with scientific management methods and advanced corporate culture concepts. With tenacious fighting spirit, they have driven the whole jewelry industry to a new level, enhanced the overall image of the industry and deepened the cultural connotation of the "sunrise industry" of Chinese jewelry industry.

5. Promote the project of assured demonstration store, and promote the harmony of purchase and sale.

In order to guide and standardize the terminal retail market and effectively protect consumers' rights and interests, in 2002, Bao Zhong Association officially launched the project of "Safety Demonstration Store of China's Jewelry Industry", recommended, selected, cultivated, evaluated and publicized influential jewelry stores nationwide and regionally, awarded the title of "Safety Demonstration Store" and actively recommended it to consumers. In the seven years since the implementation of the assured demonstration store project, more than 300 retail enterprises in 26 provinces and cities across the country have been awarded the title of assured demonstration store, which has had a great impact in the industry. It not only provides consumers with an honest, elegant and professional shopping environment and excellent service, but also plays an inestimable role in promoting industry self-discipline.

6. Carry out credit evaluation and deepen self-discipline awareness.

Industry credit system is an important work of industry self-discipline management. At present, there are illegal and dishonest phenomena in the economic field, such as manufacturing and selling fake and shoddy products, infringing intellectual property rights, maliciously defaulting on payment for goods, commercial fraud, low-price competition and vicious competition, which not only destroys the normal order of the market economy, but also seriously damages the overall interests and image of the industry. Implementing industry self-discipline and developing industry credit construction are important contents of standardizing market economic order and establishing social credit system. In 2008, China Insurance Association officially launched the special service of credit evaluation in the industry. Today, 30 companies have obtained AAA credit rating results. These enterprises have won wide acclaim from the industry and consumers for their good credit and honest and standardized management. The development of credit evaluation of jewelry enterprises has further deepened the self-discipline and normative consciousness of jewelry enterprises and guided the industry to a healthier and more scientific development path.

Industry self-discipline is an eternal topic. As long as the industry exists and the market exists, competition will not stop, and industry self-discipline must always be adhered to and cannot be relaxed for a moment. Fortunately, under the organization, advocacy, supervision and implementation of trade associations (chambers of commerce), with the joint efforts and promotion of jewelry enterprises and testing and appraisal institutions, the self-discipline of the jewelry and jade jewelry industry has made great progress, the operation order of the jewelry market has obviously improved, and the integrity level of the industry has obviously improved. With the continuous development of jewelry industry, more and more enterprises adhere to the brand and scientific development path, adhere to the business philosophy of "integrity management, quality first", and highlight the precious quality of "jewelry". I believe there will be more outstanding jewelry enterprises like Caibai, Zhou Dasheng, Colorful Yunnan and Millennium Star, and the business environment of China's jewelry industry will be further improved, and consumers will get better service. The future of China's jewelry industry will definitely be better.
