Lai Buyi was a famous writer and geomancer in Evonne period of Song Huizong. He was born in Song Huizong (A.D.101~1126). Fenggang Lai, whose real name is Wen Jun, was born in Fengshangang, dingnan county, Jiangxi Province. At the age of nine, he was a scholar in high school. He is knowledgeable and proficient in astronomy and geography. He used to work for the imperial government. After offending Qin Gui, he was dismissed from office and retired, and finally spent the rest of his life in his hometown.

There are some different opinions about the cause of Lai Buyi's death. One theory is that he was killed and only lived to be 26 years old. The origin of this statement is the book Facing Fate written by Tao, a beginner in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, which describes the process of being killed because of being framed by jealousy. However, this statement has not been confirmed by other historical books or materials, and there is no specific evidence to support it.

Another way of saying it is that because he saw through the world of mortals, he finally chose to retire from the mountains and forests, and from then on, he was accompanied by green mountains and white clouds, but no one saw him. The source of this statement is the legend of Lai Buyi's hometown. It is said that he lives in seclusion on a mountain in his hometown of Fengshan, dingnan county. Later generations called this mountain "Buyi Mountain" to commemorate his deeds.
