Theoretically, real gold will leave bite marks after being bitten. The deeper the bite marks, the higher the purity of gold, but we don't recommend this method because it may hurt teeth. In addition, because lead is softer than gold, there will be bite marks on gold-plated lead.

Step 4 weigh

If you don't have your own balance, you can ask jewelry to weigh it for you, which is generally free. The weight should be accurate to the gram. Fill a small bottle with water. It is best if there is a millimeter scale on the bottle wall, which will help you to complete the test more conveniently. It doesn't matter how much water there is, as long as the gold doesn't overflow after it is put in, so don't fill it to overflowing. Carefully record the water level before and after putting in gold.
