A Brief Introduction to the Story of Regent Aisingiorro Zai Feng in Qing Dynasty

When people usually describe a person as powerful, they often use words such as "one person is below ten thousand people" or "minister". Then in ancient times, only the Regent could achieve such achievements in name and real power. In the last dynasty of China, the Qing Dynasty, regents appeared at the time of founding and subjugation, but their influence was quite different.

At the beginning of the founding of the Qing Dynasty, Regent Dourgen, because of his own strength, talent and obedience to the army, not only firmly controlled state affairs, but also successfully replaced Daming in the Qing Dynasty, making China the last feudal dynasty. On the other hand, Aisingiorro Zai Feng, the second and last regent of the Qing Dynasty, failed to reverse the situation in the last years of the Qing Dynasty, although his son Puyi became emperor. He once wrote a couplet to his study: books are really rich, and nothing is immortal. Only from this couplet, Zai Feng's character and ambition have also been revealed.

Because Dourgen was once named "Emperor Chengzong of Qing Dynasty" after his death, Mao Xiude and Yuan Guangye made great contributions to the people, established the government and respected the emperor's benevolence and righteousness. Although deprived again two months later, he was not a pure regent. Besides, the national laws and regulations in the early Qing Dynasty were not perfect, and the regency of Dourgen was also a freewheeling way, and Zai Feng was much more restrictive than him. And Zai Feng's identity is also very special. Although his brother was Emperor Guangxu and his son was Emperor Xuan Tong, both of them and the most important Regent Zai Feng were "but he died before he could conquer".

On October 21st, the thirty-fourth year of Guangxu, the emperor died in Zai Feng. This fashion was introduced to Zai Feng by the sick Cixi. Because Puyi, who succeeded to the throne, was young, he named his biological father Zai Feng as the "national regent": all military, political and state affairs were carefully instructed and carried out. And Zai Feng, a mediocre person, is just a completely China monarch who wants to be a "little fairy". Why did Cixi make him Regent? Because Cixi wanted to hang the curtain three times, she found someone like Zai Feng. Unexpectedly, Cixi herself suddenly became seriously ill and dying the next day, which completely exceeded her expectations, so Cixi hurried on the road to death.

After the new emperor ascended the throne, ministers were afraid that Zai Feng would follow the old story of Dourgen and that Jade Dragon would repeat the story of Empress Dowager Cixi. So the cabinet government at that time threw out a Summary of Regent Etiquette, which contained sixteen articles of association, which not only standardized the Regent system, but also avoided the power growth of Jade Dragon, which was a good thing for ministers.

Zuo Zhuan once said: The great event of a country lies in respecting peace and honor. Therefore, as the regent of the prison, Zai Feng must also shoulder these responsibilities for the young emperor. The first item in the regent's etiquette is about the regent's obligation to worship the ancestral temple for the emperor, which is also the supreme honor. Article 2 states that "military affairs and rewards and punishments shall be decided by the Regent of the prison", and then this item is added in Article 5. Because the emperor is the marshal of Lu Haijun in the whole country, and the head of the emperor, Zai Feng, also has the command of all the military forces in the country, which is really high.

At the same time, as the Regent, there must be testimony between Zai Feng and his sister-in-law Yulong and his son Xuan Tong. The entry stipulates that the regent of the prison state must be a vassal before the Empress Dowager, calling his son Puyi the emperor, while other ministers address Zai Feng with the title of Regent. In addition, Zai Feng was also responsible for educating the emperor to check his homework. More interestingly, he was also responsible for evaluating the teaching quality and attendance of the teachers of Emperor Xuan Tong. Zai Feng was the only one who could set up a throne on the east side of the emperor's dragon chair and join the emperor in the early dynasty.
