How to query the GIA certificate?
1. First, open a browser, enter "GIA certificate query", and find GIA official website on the searched page.

2. Open official website, enter your certificate number in the query certificate, and then click the query certificate directly.

After your inquiry, if the serial number and diamond weight are correct, an appraisal report will appear. Check it carefully to see if it is completely consistent with the appraisal report in your hand. If one item of data (including appearance) is inconsistent, then the appraisal report in your hand may be false.

GIA FAQ

First, the problem of cutting work.

GIA detects bare stones. When testing, it is necessary to rotate the diamond by 360 degrees with extremely precise instruments, draw a model of the true proportion of the diamond, and calculate the "table width ratio" and "pavilion depth ratio" of the diamond by computer.

Every diamond tested by GIA will draw a diamond grade map in the certificate, so that people can easily see the cut grade of the diamond. However, most of the national inspection certificates on the market are inlaid diamonds, so it is difficult to accurately measure all parts of diamonds, so it is difficult to make an accurate judgment on diamond cutting.

Second, the color problem.

There are many strict requirements for diamond color grading, and only bare stones can correctly compare colors. When grading bare stones, the diamond table must face down to compare with the most obvious waist edge of the diamond, while the inlaid diamond table faces up, so that the fire color of the diamond itself will largely hide the color of the diamond.

Moreover, the color of inlaid diamonds will be affected by the color of surrounding metals. If the metal inlaid with diamonds is white, the color of diamonds will be white, while if yellow metal is used, the color of diamonds will be yellow.

Thirdly, the problem of clarity.

It is not accurate to judge the clarity of inlaid diamonds, because the clarity of bare stones should be investigated from the crown, pavilion and waist, while the clarity of inlaid diamonds can only be observed from the crown of diamonds.

Some can check the "waist", but due to the limitation of style, it is almost impossible to check the clarity of diamonds from the "pavilion". Due to the influence of the fire color of the diamond itself, many diamond inclusions cannot be observed from the table.

Fourth, the problem of weight.

GIA needs to weigh diamonds in a sealed instrument to check the weight of bare stones, and the weight is accurate to five decimal places.

However, when testing the weight of inlaid diamonds, it is impossible to take them out and weigh them. Therefore, when the diamond ring certificate is issued in China, the weight of the diamond printed on the inner wall of the ring by the jewelry manufacturer will be adopted.
