The crown is inlaid with dragons, phoenixes, gem flowers, Cui Yun, green leaves and spools. These parts are made separately, and then inserted into the sleeve of the crown to form the rockhopper. On the phoenix's head, the golden dragon leaps over Cui Yun, while the emerald phoenix spreads its wings and flies between gems and leaves.
