Paul Zimnisky, an independent diamond market analyst, recently released a set of statistics and forecast data for the diamond industry. In 2020, the global diamond output will be about1.1.300 million carats, which is more than 20% lower than last year's total output, mainly due to the downward adjustment of planned output, the COVID-19 epidemic and the shrinking industry.
As for the jewelry market, the global demand for diamonds and jewelry has been increasing slightly in recent years, and will decrease by about 25% in 2020 due to the COVID-19 epidemic. Paul Zimnisky predicts that the jewelry market will return to the pre-epidemic level in 2022 or 2023.
