1574, there were about160,000 Spanish immigrants, many of whom were mixed-race children of Spanish men and indigenous women. Later, when the colonial population was the largest, it increased to 3.276 million whites, 5.328 million hybrids, 7.35 million Indians and 776,000 blacks.
