GIC is the English abbreviation and brand name of Jewelry Science College of China Geo University.
Basic course of GIC gem appraisal certificate
Crystal Mineralogy, Introduction to Gemmology, Gemmological Identification Instruments, Names of Common Gemstones, Introduction of Synthesis and Treatment Methods of Common Gemstones, Identification Practice of Common Gemstones and Imitations.
The second part of GIC certificate course, you can only take this course after completing the basic course of gem identification. This course focuses on the identification of synthetic and optimized gemstones, teaching the necessary theoretical knowledge of related disciplines, cultivating the ability of analyzing and solving problems, and training the practical skills of accurately identifying most gemstone varieties and their authenticity. Students can also take basic courses and this course separately, and obtain a certificate of gemology after passing the examination.
The main contents are:
Practical techniques of gem identification, mineralogical theory, origin and luminescence of gem color, gem inclusions, characteristics and identification of gem synthesis and optimization, application of analytical instruments in gem identification, various theories of collecting gems and rare gems, introduction to jadeite, authenticity identification of important gems and practice of gem identification, etc. The total hours of face-to-face teaching is 280 hours.
GIC diamond grading certificate course
The third part of GIC certificate course, but you can choose it separately. After passing the exam, you will get a diamond grading certificate. According to international standards, this course focuses on the diamond 4C grading theory, and pays attention to the skills and techniques of grading with 10 magnification magnifying glass for training. The main contents include: diamond formation and resources, diamond properties, cutting and grinding technology, cutting classification, carat weight, color classification, clarity classification, diamond optimization, synthetic diamond, diamond imitation, diamond 4C classification standard, diamond inlay classification, diamond trade survey, diamond evaluation and certificate. The face-to-face teaching time of the course is 160 class hours.
After completing these three courses and passing the exam, you can get the GIC Gem Appraiser Qualification Certificate.
With GIC certificate, you can directly obtain FGA (British Gemological Association Gemological Appraiser Certificate) and DGA (British Gemological Association Diamond Appraisal Certificate).
