Jewellery sources of Japanese royal family
In the long history of China, if we have to say which dynasty failed the most, I believe many people will think it was the last year of the Qing Dynasty. From the first Opium War, China entered the late Qing Dynasty. It was also from this time that the Qing Dynasty gradually declined. The constant invasion of western powers forced China to sign unequal treaties. What followed was the Second Opium War, which made the ruling crisis of the Qing Dynasty deeper and deeper.

Speaking of the late Qing Dynasty, I have to mention Cixi. Besides enjoying power, Cixi also likes pearls very much in her life. It can be said that Cixi has a soft spot for pearls. In her life, pearls can be seen at any time. Besides playing with pearls, she eats a lot of pearl powder every few days, in order to stay young and keep her face. The reward for courtiers is generally mainly pearls.

After the death of Cixi, there were also many pearls buried with her. It is reported that there are 420 big beads, 0/.800 medium beads and 0/.500 small beads. Among all the pearls buried with her, one is Cixi's favorite. That pearl is called the pearl of the king of Persia. This kind of pearl, also known as "Asian Pearl", is the largest natural pearl in Asia. This pearl was discovered by the king of Persia 450 years ago, and was later presented to the king of India, but was later returned to the king of Persia.

During the Kangxi period, Persian envoys came to our country and presented this pearl to Emperor Kangxi. Emperor Kangxi also liked this pearl very much and took it out to play with it from time to time. After Emperor Qianlong ascended the throne, this pearl was put into the Yuanmingyuan collection. It was not until Guangxu that a little maid-in-waiting tried to steal this pearl and was caught by the eunuch on duty. Cixi was so angry that she immediately killed the maid-in-waiting with a stick. It was from this time that this pearl was carried by Cixi as a treasure.

1908, Cixi died of illness, and this pearl was used as a funerary object. Twenty years later, Sun Dianying stole the tomb of Cixi, and many jewels, including this pearl, were stolen together. Since then, this pearl has never been found again. But not long after, this pearl appeared again during the Jinan Massacre. At that time, Japanese soldiers took the opportunity to take this pearl and brought it back to Japan. Since then, this pearl has been living in Japan.

1994, the Japanese royal family exhibited this pearl all over the country in the name of national treasure. According to international practice, goods looted in the war can be claimed back. Therefore, after China exhibited this pearl in Japan, he repeatedly asked Japan to return this peerless pearl. However, the Japanese royal family said that the pearl was bought by Japanese officers at a high price and presented to the emperor on his birthday. It has been several decades now. After being dedicated to the emperor, it was regarded as a national treasure of Japan, and Japan directly rejected our request.

So far, this pearl has lived in Japan for 90 years. Although Japan has been reluctant to return it, it is not without opportunities. I believe that one day, this pearl will be able to return to China.
