Discovery history of sapphire placer in Changle county
The sapphire mine in Changle County is the largest sapphire mine in China and a rare large sapphire mine in the world. The sapphire produced has the characteristics of large particle size, bright color (mainly dark indigo), transparency, purity and large particle size. Its discovery provides abundant resources for the revitalization of gem industry in China and Shandong, especially for the development of Changle economy.

1In the summer of 974, a car driver found a corundum crystal weighing about 50ct in Cenozoic basalt area of Changle, which provided a direct prospecting clue. The geological prospecting of sapphire mine in Changle, Shandong Province began at that time.

1In August, 978, Shandong Economic Commission, Foreign Trade Bureau, Geological Bureau and other units jointly issued the Notice on Carrying out Jade Work, and the Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources instructed the Fourth Geological Team to carry out the investigation of jade resources in the whole province. From March 1980 to September 198 1, the fourth geological team pointed out through field work that sapphire may be found in Penglai area, Changle and Linqu Cenozoic basalt distribution areas, especially Changle area.

1984, No.4 Geological Team of the Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources conducted a geological survey of1∶ 50,000 in Changle 170km2, and found four blue corundum blocks in the water system from Hangshan to Jingshan Reservoir in China and Canada. This is an important discovery of sapphire mine in Changle area after geological work.

According to some records, blue corundum was also found in Longgang and Zhengmu areas in team 7 in the same year.

1985, 16 blue corundum was found in the alluvial layer of Changle area by the fourth geological team of the Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources. In June+10 of the same year, the Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources issued a general survey of sapphires in Cenozoic Paleocene and Neogene basalt areas in Linqu, requiring that the four sapphires obtained be identified, the excavated sapphire profile be encrypted, the prospecting clues be expanded, and an early breakthrough be made. Geological Team 4 compiled the sapphire survey and design in Beiyan area of Changle County. During the period of 1986, the fourth geological team carried out work in Beiyan 1 10km2, and found 2 13 blue corundum, the largest of which was 22ct(4.4g), which was identified as sapphire by gemmology in Beijing.

At the beginning of 1986, Shandong People's Broadcasting Station, Weifang People's Broadcasting Station, Volkswagen Daily, Weifang Daily, Weifang TV Station and many other media reported the discovery of sapphire.

At the end of 1986, the provincial bureau of geology and mineral resources adopted the bidding method to speed up the general survey of sapphire mines in Changle area, and the seventh geological team won the bid. The contract requires sapphire survey within the range of Wutu and Beiyan 100km2.

During the period of 1987, Geological No.7 Team conducted a general survey of sapphire deposits in Beiyan area, sampled loose materials in the Danhe River system in Beiyan area, and finally delineated the ore bodies, and proved the sapphire placer reserves of 2008+08g.10089.000000000606 This is the first sapphire placer in Shandong Province.

The general survey of sapphire mines aroused great concern of local villagers and began to collect corundum (including sapphire) minerals for sale.

1987165438+1At the end of October, Wang Zhencheng, a villager from Xiejiashan Village in Wutu Street, and another villager brought about 250 grams of blue corundum to the Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources to report the mine. The Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources sent people to receive the two villagers and told the Shandong Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources to pay attention to this work.

1February, 1988, the Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources proposed Wutu area as the key area of sapphire mine survey. In mid-March, Geological Team 7 started the general survey of Wutu area 1 10km2 and Zhengmu-Nanhao area of 336km2. The results show that there are abundant sapphires in alluvium in Wangxin area. Through the work of 1989, this area is expected to become a large sapphire deposit.

1 In June, 1990, Australia Pacific Gem Co., Ltd. wanted to jointly establish a gem processing factory with Geological team 7 and Changle County, and the Australian side contributed110,000 US dollars, but the premise was that the Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources must have a sapphire placer reserve of 200,000 g (1 10,000 ct) as a guarantee. Geological No.7 Team undertook this arduous task, made a detailed survey of Wutuwang new ore section, delineated two ore bodies, and proved sapphire reserves 1.0078 million grams (i.e. 50395438+0.000 CT), which was five times higher than the original design. The average grade of the mine is 0.936g/m3(4.68ct/m3), and the total amount of corundum has been proved to be 7.222 million g, with an average grade of 6.846g/m3.

1989 has also achieved gratifying results in jujia village. There are five industrial ore bodies and two ore bodies that are temporarily difficult to use in this ore section. The proven sapphire reserve is 423,060 grams (2114,800 carats), with an average grade of 0.489 grams/cubic meter (2.445 carats/cubic meter). The total proven corundum reserves are 2,469,600 grams, with an average grade of 2.59 grams per cubic meter.

From August to October, 20091June, 2009, Tai 'an Geological Survey Institute of Sinochem Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources conducted a general survey of sapphire mine in Caojiamiaozi mining area of Changle County, with an area of18.95km2. After detailed investigation, * * * delineated 12 ore body, with a total average grade of 0.412. * * Obtained the total corundum resources with economy (333) 1530.78kg, including sapphire (333). The total ore quantity is 1 10.9 million m3.

20 13, 13 In June, Shandong Academy of Geological Sciences undertook the comprehensive investigation of sapphire mines in Changle County, entrusted by the Changle County People's Government. The working area starts from Giulio Givanni Carlo Taccon Street in the north, ends at Qiaozhen Town in the south, ends at the western boundary of Changle County in the west and ends at the eastern boundary of Wutu Street in the east, covering an area of about 450km2. Through geological survey, heavy sand survey, shallow well, drilling and other prospecting projects and sampling analysis, combined with previous exploration results, the shape, scale, occurrence and ore-bearing of ore-bearing volcanic rocks and clastic accumulation layers are roughly identified. The distribution, scale, shape and occurrence of sapphire primary ore and placer are found out. Five sapphire metallogenic prospects have been delineated, among which Fangshan, Qiujiahe and Qiao Shan are the main sapphire metallogenic prospects, while Wutu and Beiyan are the sapphire placer metallogenic prospects. This investigation and evaluation estimated, predicted and summarized the resource potential of sapphire and corundum in Changle County. Sapphire resources in this area are 47 189. 16kg, of which (332) is 1096.33kg, (333) is 565.75kg, (334)? The total resource of corundum with grade of 45527.07kg is 258482.2 1kg, of which (332) is 3 104.88kg, (333) is 174 1.60kg, (334)? At the same time, the sapphire and corundum resources in primary ore and placer are classified and estimated.

Sapphire resources in Changle County have brought great economic and social benefits to Changle County. Changle county is implementing the "blue light plan", which is based on the sapphire resources in Changle county and led by the Sino-foreign joint venture "Changle Blue Light Jewelry Co., Ltd.", making Changle an international gem processing base and an international jewelry market that has begun to take shape.
