1999, the activity ended, and more than 500 rural middle school students received funding.
In the winter of 200 1, a letter came from East China, which was addressed to the original organizer of the event-that is, my hand (but I have already left Chinese and foreign teenagers). In addition to thanking Chinese and foreign teenagers and their patrons, there is still a passage that makes me feel sad and unforgettable:
"... after graduating from college, I have a well-paid job. I sincerely thank the Chinese and foreign teenagers and the kind people who helped me. Although my family is still poor and my father is in poor health, as long as my income remains unchanged, I will use one month's salary to help 10 rural children with poor families every year, because it is not enough to express my gratitude whether I return the money collected in those years to my sponsors or donate it to Chinese and foreign teenagers. I hope you will feel gratified ... "
This is a letter from a child in Yaoxiang, who was a senior three.
This letter made me "greedy"-I wish there were more such children among the students who were originally funded!
So, I began to look for the children who were assisted in those years, but the result was very disappointing: most of the children who were assisted in those years were junior high school students, and very few were admitted to high school, fewer were admitted to universities, and even fewer found satisfactory jobs after graduation.
The textbooks in urban and rural areas are the same, and the college entrance examination is also a unified examination paper. Why is there such a big difference between urban and rural children? It stands to reason that "the children of poor families are masters early" should be more sensible and hardworking than the children in the city.
When I had the opportunity to go deep into rural schools, I finally understood the gap between urban and rural children-teachers are the first resource of education, but most good teachers went to cities or places with good conditions. Faced with the pressure of survival, their choice is understandable. Of course, there are also many rural teachers who are sincere about their hometown, but the environmental limitations make it difficult for them to provide better education for rural children. In rural areas or villages, there are few educational resources, and some schools even lack chalk-under such conditions, it is conceivable what kind of education rural children can get.
However, without rural teachers, more than 60% of the population in China may be illiterate. Rural teachers may not be knowledgeable enough, and some teachers only graduated from high school or junior high school. However, their persistence enabled education to continue in rural areas and enabled most children in China to enjoy the right to education. Even if there is a huge gap between such education level and urban education, they still deserve everyone's admiration and gratitude. It can be said that rural teachers have shouldered the heavy responsibility of basic education for more than two thirds of children in China with their weak shoulders.
The outside world always pays attention to children, and few people pay attention to rural teachers who are silently dedicated. Maybe we take their dedication for granted. No one knows about the "Hope Project", but little is known about the "candlelight project" for poor rural teachers.
Supporting a rural teacher is equivalent to helping many children, because teachers may affect dozens or even hundreds of students. So I hope to help children by supporting rural teachers.
A person's ability is limited. I can't raise the salary of rural teachers, turn humble school buildings into tall buildings, and provide free lunch for every rural child. I can only express and act in the way I can.
As an editor, I am most familiar with books and know that a good book may change a person's life. Therefore, I hope to buy 50 kinds of good books suitable for teachers to read and donate them to 200 village-level primary schools through fundraising and charity sale to show my respect and gratitude to them.
The 50 selected books were recommended by excellent primary school teachers, enthusiastic parents and experts who care about teachers' growth-from the day I decided to start doing this, I received support and help from all sides almost every day, which made me grateful. I don't know where I can go, but I hope this wish can become the wish of more people, and more and more people pay attention to and participate in it.
In this materialized era, temptations abound and people are impetuous. Maybe I'm just wishful thinking, but I hope I can give it a try and see if my wish can produce two small flowers-just like the child mentioned earlier, he is the only one among more than 500 people who can stand the doubt, and the success rate is really small, but one child can change his fate, and we didn't work in vain at the beginning. There may not be many teachers who read these books at school, and they may even be forgotten or sold, but as long as there are teachers to read and convey some contents to children, I will be satisfied. The total price of each set of these 50 books is 1.037 yuan, and the book company is entrusted to negotiate and buy them, 7 1.5 yuan, of which 1.000 copies of caring and diamond-like human feelings are donated by Shenzhen Aidier Jewelry Company. The only requirement of the company is to tell them the whereabouts of the book at that time, which is natural. Of course, this also puts pressure on me, which means that I have to raise money from the school at 1000 to buy books, otherwise I can't explain to Shenzhen Idyll Jewelry Company.
I know it is not easy, but it is worth my efforts. In the age of no doubt, I suddenly understood that not everyone can have the opportunity to do what they want. Being able to do what you want and what you should do is a kind of happiness.
I know that my personal strength is weak, but giving up this weak strength means that I have no strength.
Giving up is a simple thing, but I hope I will never give up.
Because there is no suitable non-profit organization, I can't raise funds in the conventional way, and donations can't be remitted to my personal account, which is suspected of illegal fund-raising. Maybe I'll go to jail. To this end, I entrusted a trustworthy book company to help (account name: Hainan Horizon Book Publishing Co., Ltd.; Bank of deposit: Haikou Friendship Sub-branch of China Construction Bank; Account number: 46001002936053001402), so I can borrow their platform to realize my wish, so there are fewer links and I don't have to worry about the details of buying books-there are at least three solutions to a problem, so there will be no suspicion of illegal fund-raising. This not only saves the trouble of running non-profit organizations, but also saves personnel expenses. Moreover, there are even people who send books to the countryside-volunteers of the Western Plan and holiday travelers, including leaders who come to Nanning for business, meetings and study (they often drive here and generally don't refuse to bring books back by the way, haha, fooling many people into the water).
By the way, I edited two books: Education I Understand, edited by Zhu Yongxin, which contains dozens of touching educational cases. I hope every teacher knows how to treat children; "Everything starts with changing yourself" introduces grassroots public welfare organizations and volunteers in China. I hope more teachers and children know what volunteers are-this is my abuse of power for personal gain.
I know that 7 15 yuan is not a small sum, but I believe someone is willing to go with me.
