The full name of Qilou Old Street is Qilou Architectural Cultural and Historical Block, located at No.20 Jiefang West Road, Longhua District, Haikou City, Hainan Province. The building complex of Qilou Laojie was originally formed from 1920s to 1940s. The oldest building, Sipailou, was built in the Southern Song Dynasty, with a history of more than 700 years. Most of the nearly 600 buildings on the street were built by a group of overseas Chinese who came back from Nanyang at the beginning of last century with reference to the architectural style of Nanyang at that time. Most of the arcades you see are full of elegant sculptures and foreign-style decorations, and some even have baroque flavor.
