"Tianlong Babu" is the eight dharma protectors in Buddhism, also known as "Dragon Babu" or "Eight Monks". In Ba Shen, Tianbu and Longbu are the most important, so they are collectively called "Tianlong Babu".
Buddhism believes that when the Buddha helped the world spread Buddhism, if there were no effective protectors, both Buddhism and Taoism would decline, so there were many protectors in the Buddhist country. They can benefit all living beings and accept people who endanger Buddhism. The guardians of the gods in various ministries have extraordinary magic and are full of magic. According to legend, when Sakyamuni Buddha did not become a Buddha, "Tianlong Babu" swore to the void that once Sakyamuni Buddha became a Buddha, they would all be the guardians of Sakyamuni Buddha. "Tianlong Babu" are: 1, Tianbu; 2. Asura; 3. Kinnara; 4. Mahoraga; 5. Dragon system; 6, hag; 7. fuck a woman; 8. Goruda. Except the immortals, most of them are very strange and powerful.
After Buddhism was introduced into China in the Han Dynasty, Tianlong Babu not only became the familiar patron saint of Buddhism, but also gradually became a part of folk beliefs, and even became the widely used material in many literary notes and novels. The famous writer Jin Yong's martial arts novel "Eight Dragons" is taken from the "Eight Dragons" in Buddhist scriptures to symbolize some secular figures.
The exorcist from Sheng Hui once stood in front of the tooth tower of Sakyamuni Buddha during the enthronement ceremony of the abbot of Lingguang Temple in Beijing. Zhuo look in all directions said:
Originally a Tathagata Leo,
The blessing of Tianlong Babu;
I came here today,
It is time to practice light.
Details are as follows:
L tianzhong (Sanskrit name Deva), heaven is god, transliterated as deva, translated as heaven, heaven and so on. , refers to the heaven among the six roads. It means sacredness and glory. Heaven makes up the first.
The dwelling places of all beings in heaven can be divided into the desire world, the color world and the achromatic world. There are six days in the realm of desire, seventeen days in the realm of color, four in the realm of achromatic, and twenty-seven days in the realm of * * *.
Tianbu is the first of the eight sects, the most important one of the "Tianlong Babu" and the one with the most gods. The "Twenty-four Heavenly Kings", "Four Heavenly Kings" and "Ba Shen" often mentioned in Buddhism are all in this Ministry. The famous protectors of the Twenty Days are Brahma, Indra, Four Heavenly Kings, Wei Tuo and Rebecca. Twenty immortals are often worshipped on both sides of the Hall of Great Heroes, such as Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou, Dahui Temple in Beijing, Huayan Temple in Datong and Huiji Temple in Putuo Mountain. The famous Brahma (originally the creator of Brahmanism), Indra (originally the god of thunderstorm and the god of war), Tian Guo, Zeng Tian, Guang Da, and Auspicious Heaven all belong to heaven.
In a broad sense, immortals include immortals who want to be six immortals, immortals who want to be four Zen immortals in erotic world and immortals who want to be four empty immortals in achromatic world, but immortals in Tianlong Babu should refer to immortals who are lower than the four immortals.
According to ancient records, Sakyamuni Buddha was the king of the world before he was born.
L Longzhong Dui (Vatican name Naga), transliterated as "Naga". The dragon living in the water is the god of sex and rain, which is very similar to the legend of the Dragon King in China. Moreover, dragons have a lot of jewels and are the richest people in the sea. Dragon is one of the eight dragons that protect Buddhism.
The leader of the dragon is called the Dragon King. They have great power and are usually the guardians of the Buddha. For example, the dragon king who is good at living and hard to pull out are all dragon kings who practice Mahayana Buddhism and practice hard.
There are countless great dragon kings in Hua Yan Jing, such as King Chalong of Pilupo and King Luolong of Dai Ji. They are diligent, prosperous and rainy, which makes all beings angry and extinct.
The Buddha's Great Peacock Sutra says that the Dragon King sometimes walks on the ground, often lives in the air, and always lives in the Temple Mountain or in the water.
L Hag (Brahman's name is Yaksa), the flying man is also called Luo Cha, Yaosha, Yuesha, which means brave, agile, noble or weed. Free translation means "can spit out ghosts", "agile ghosts", "brave and healthy" and "agile". Belongs to one of the eight dragons.
According to the records in Chang Agama, the Classic of the General Assembly, Volume 133, and Volume 31 of Shunzhenglun, the hag is the family of Vishamenton in the north, guarding the heaven and other heavens, and enjoying all kinds of splendor and power with them.
Hag has a sword in one hand and a bow in the other. A sword is a weapon with blades on both sides and a ridge in the middle. In Buddhist temples, the sharpness of the sword is often used to break, symbolizing prajnaparamita wisdom. Bow, also known as bow and arrow, is a weapon. Generally, it is made of tough wood, with horns inside and ribs outside. Silk strings are used for archery. In the classics, bows and arrows are often used to describe the troubles that shoot at all sentient beings, the hearts that hate leaving Bodhi, the obstacles to becoming a Buddha, and the deepest light that shoots at all sentient beings. The object of loving God is very common.
The story of Hag is widely circulated among the people in China. It is not only a ghost pawn in hell, but also a patrol soldier of the four seas dragon king-the sea patrol hag. The image of a hag is fierce and ferocious, so in A Dream of Red Mansions, Jia Lian secretly cursed his wife, Wang Xifeng, as a "hag star". Until now, people still call vicious women "tigress" or "hag".
Strangely, the hag, known as the evil ghost, was accepted as the protector by Buddha Sakyamuni. This seems to be quite different from the Buddha's purpose of saving lives, or because of his courage and lightness, he can walk in the air, just like Lei Zhenzi and Tu Sunhang in the Book of the Gods, and Buddhism took a fancy to his martial arts.
In Buddhism, the King of Vishamen in the north led the Eight Commanders of Hag to protect all sentient beings. In ancient Indian mythology, hag is a demigod, and there are different opinions about its origin. According to Vishnu, Hag and Luo Cha were born from Brahma's feet at the same time, and they are usually hostile to each other. Hag, unlike Luo Cha, is friendly to human beings, so it is called "sincere man". Its image is sometimes described as a beautiful and strong young man, and sometimes as a dwarf with a drooping abdomen.
L Gandharva (Brahman's name is Gandharva), also transliterated as Ganda Tie, Ganda Po, etc. , literally translated as eating incense, looking for incense, walking incense, etc. , or named Shen Le,,, Xiang, Zheng Letian, etc. , is one of the eight dragons. There are more than 6 thousand incense gods and music gods. When they played the piano and sang hymns in front of the Buddha,' three thousand worlds shook'. This is the Buddhist Central National Orchestra. Legend has it that it doesn't eat wine and meat, but only smells, hence the name.
According to the first volume of Vimalakīrti Jing Zhu and the fifth volume of Vimalakīrti Jing Xuan Shu, Manna Shiva lives in Baoshan on the ground, sometimes playing music in the sky, being good at playing the piano and making all kinds of elegant music.
Originally a group of gods worshipped by Brahmanism, it is said that they serve Indra and play geisha music. Ganlu slope is a symbol of happiness and auspiciousness in Buddhism. Most of them are described as girls, plump, flying with ribbons and fluttering in the air, which is beautiful. In ancient Indian mythology, they were demigods, who were familiar with and revealed the mysteries and sacred principles of heaven and were regarded as the embodiment of the flame of the sun. According to legend, they prepared sumo wine for the gods. Ganlupo is a musician of Indra in mythology, which is closely related to sumo.
Ganlv Nv is said to be the god who serves Indra and keeps elegant music. "On Wisdom" Volume 10 says: King Ganlu Po "plays the piano and praises the Buddha at the Buddha's place, and all three thousand worlds shake". This is a large group of Buddhist musicians who praise the Buddha. Ganlu slope is also a symbol of happiness and auspiciousness in Buddhism. Tian Fei in Dunhuang frescoes in Gansu, China is a manna woman with China style. Flying in China is the image of a girl, plump, flying in the air, flying in the air, very beautiful.
The ancient Indians called the castles and mountains that appeared in the air (that is, mirage) Gan dharvanagara, which literally translated as the city of incense. According to legend, the goddess Manna Pova incarnates in the air, so it is called Manna Pova City.
Goruda (Brahman Goruda) has been translated into Chinese, such as Galois, Golden Winged Birds and Wonderful Winged Birds, also known as Dapeng Golden Winged Birds. It's the golden winged bird god. It's huge. Spread your wings, there's 336 Wan Li! He feeds on snakes, which can drive away all kinds of poisonous snakes in the world and benefit all beings. In China's ghost novels, he is described as a Dapeng golden-winged bird that protects the Buddha's head. In Indian mythology, it is a fierce bird and is said to be Vishnu's mount. In Buddhism, it is one of the Eight Dragons.
According to Buddhist scriptures, the wings of Goruda are intertwined with many treasures, so it is also called golden-winged bird or wonderful-winged bird. Golden-winged birds are huge, with wings 336 Wan Li apart! This is much bigger than Kun Peng in Zhuangzi Xiaoyao. This Goruda, in China, is said to be the protector of the Buddha's head-Dapeng Golden Winged Bird. There is a lion camel kingdom in Journey to the West. The three demon kings are the Lion King, the Elephant King and the Dapeng Golden Winged Bird. The abilities of the three lich kings are the best. Even the Monkey King, who once made a scene in the Heavenly Palace, couldn't help it. Later, it was surrendered by the Buddha, and now Dapeng Golden Winged Bird is the patron saint of the Buddha's head flame.
In ancient Indian mythology, it was the mount of Vishnu, the great god, and the king of birds. Its image is half man and half bird, with eagle head, claws and beak, and its body and limbs are no different from those of human beings. Golden-winged birds are huge, and their wings spread hundreds of Wan Li. It is said that it eats a dragon king and 500 dragons every day. The musical instrument held by Goruda in both hands is a flute, usually made of bamboo with small holes on it. It can play wonderful music directly or horizontally.
The related stories are used as a wedge in China's famous Yue Biography. The book says: Yue Fei was originally the reincarnation of the Golden Winged Bird King, and Qin Gui was the dragon king pecked by the Golden Winged Bird in his previous life. The Golden Wushu of Jurchen Kingdom was reincarnated by the Red Beard Dragon. In order to overcome the disaster caused by the reincarnation of the Dragon King, the Buddha sent the golden-winged bird to earth. This myth shows the influence of Buddhist stories on China's novels.
Kinnara (Brahman's name is Jinnala), also transliterated as tight Silla and true Silla, translated as inhuman and suspicious, translated as the god of songs and music. Kinnara's Chinese translation means "don't believe". This is because he has horns on his head, looks like a human being, is inhuman and unnatural, and is a bit confusing, so he was named "don't believe" and is one of the Eight Dragons.
According to Ramayana, becoming the head of a human body, or the head of a horse body, is also called becoming the first bird body. Is one of Indra's musical gods. Kinnara, Hindi, together with Ganlu, are the musical gods in heaven, and they have their own division of labor. Different from Gan Lv, Gan Lv specializes in singing and playing pop music, while Kinnara is a professional musician who specializes in playing French music, that is, serious music. In the Mahayana classics, Kinnara people often attend the lectures of the Buddha and support and praise the Buddha with geisha and dance music.
Hui Lin Yi Yin wrote in the first 1 1 volume: "Kinnara, music heaven, can sing and dance, and has an excellent voice. Men can sing while women can dance. This day, women are mostly wives of women. " In ancient books, we can often see the records of Kinnara playing wonderful songs, solemn Dojo and protecting Buddhism.
Asura (Brahman's name is Asura) is transliterated as Asuro, Asuro, etc. It means unprovoked and ugly. There are three meanings: one is non-heaven, which is different from heaven, because it is beside the sky, so it is named non-heaven; Second, it is not correct, which means that Asura is extremely ugly, but the Buddhist scriptures also say: Asura men are ugly and Asura women are beautiful; Third, there is no alcohol, which means that Asura doesn't drink. Asura is also one of the dragons.
Asura is one of the oldest evil gods in ancient India. He is suspicious, irritable and competitive, and often opposes the gods led by Indra. He is a fierce and belligerent god. King Asura often fights with Indra, because Asura has beautiful women but no food, and Indra has food but no beautiful women, so they are jealous of each other and fight with each other. People call the battlefield where they fight "Shura battlefield".
However, Asura did a lot of charitable things, so he also had many blessings. He became the guardian of Buddhism. In the Buddhist scriptures, we can often see their records of happily guarding and respecting Buddhism, supporting Buddhism and believing in Buddhism.
L Mohoroga (Brahman's name is Mahoraga), translated as Great Wisdom or Python God, also belongs to the God of Music, transliterated as Mohoroga and Mofule, and is one of the Eight Draco.
Volume 11 of Hui Lin Yi Yin says: "Mohouloga is a god of music or something, with a human body and a snake head." The second volume of A Brief History of Vimalakīrti Classics says: "Mohologa, the god of pythons, is also a cloud and a worm, and has no stomach, that is, the temple god on earth. People know that wine and meat enter the belly of a python, eliminate evil and flatter, be angry and give less, be greedy for wine and meat, stop falling ghosts and gods, and eat more insects into it. " This is a python god who has no feet and walks on his stomach. In Buddhist scriptures, it is common for him to attend Buddhist meetings with other people, and to protect Buddhism. Ancient India was a country full of snakes and worshipped them. Python has also been absorbed as a protector.
Among the above eight parts, Tianzhong and Longzhong are the most important, so they are collectively called "Tianlong Eight Parts". These eight parts are always invisible to the naked eye, so they are called ghost eight parts. In the Eight Parts, the God of Dragon is extremely successful, so it is called the Eight Parts of Dragon, also known as the Eight Parts of Dragon God. In these eight parts, Asura is one of the six roads. Hag, Ganlv Po, Kinnara and others should be ghost roads, while Dragon, Goruda and Moluccas should be beast roads.
