Burning City is an action film produced by Art Nouveau City Film Co., Ltd., directed by Lin Lingdong, co-written by Lin Lingdong and Sai Shing Sun, and starring Chow Yun Fat, Li Xiuxian and Sun Yue. The film premiered in Hong Kong on February 1987.
The film tells the story of a robbery group headed by Nan Ge and Ah Fu planning to forcibly rob a jewelry factory. After the police heard the news, they sent special agent Gao Qiu to do undercover investigation. After several efforts, they finally succeeded in breaking into the robbery group. When the police learned that the robber leader Nan Ge and his general Ah Hu planned to rob the jewelry factory, they immediately set up an ad hoc group to investigate. Deputy Chief Liu Dingguang has sent his right-hand man and good friend Gao Qiu to sneak into the underworld undercover. In the name of selling guns, Gao Qiu got through the relationship with the robbers, and gained trust after several attempts by Ah Fu. Nan Ge intends to pull Gao Qiu into the partnership, but Gao Qiu is afraid of exposure and temporarily interrupts contact with Vice Liu.
Liu Zai's deputy, a middleman in the Jianghu, noticed that the situation was different and strengthened the security measures of the gold shop. Gao Qiu used paper money to leave clues for the police.
