-Reading Keigo Higashino's "The Murder of Baima Villa"

(Wen/Yi Qiang)

The murder of White Horse Villa is the third work of Keigo Higashino's detective series. This detective novel is based on Ben's reasoning, including serial murders, secret room murders and nursery rhymes ... This may be very attractive, but for me, I have suppressed the story of English women for a long time and it is unforgettable.

Of all things in the world, only love is the hardest to give up, and only love hurts the most.

It is said that if you love someone, you must sympathize with her and give her happiness; If you can't give her happiness, just see her happiness; Love someone, love me, love my dog, and make the person she loves happy ... all this, love, how great! But what about reality?

Forget it, don't be sad, let's talk about the contents of the book.

1. Sadness is greater than the sadness brought by death.

This novel is not so much about a murder as a sad and desolate story.

Many years ago, the current manager of Mother Goose Hotel met three British women who owned the hotel and became friends with the British couple.

Later, an English woman's husband died in a car accident, and then the manager fell in love with an English woman. One night, a woman's child disappeared on a snowy night. The manager went out to look for it and planned to propose to an English woman as soon as he found the child.

The lucky manager found the child of an English woman, and the child is still alive. However, on the way back to the hotel with the child on his back, the manager slipped and the child fell off the cliff and hung on a tree halfway up the mountain. The manager sprained his ankle and couldn't be rescued immediately, so he rushed back to the hotel for help.

When I hurried back to the manager who called for help, I went back to the hotel. When I saw an English woman holding a portrait of her husband in prayer, I thought that women would regard their children as the embodiment of her dead husband. As long as there is this child, it will inevitably affect his marriage with a woman. I am so disappointed that I will not mention saving the child.

The next morning, the British woman found the child hanging halfway up the mountain without breathing, and found the metal piece (the badge of the manager's mountaineering club) tightly in the child's hand. She immediately understood that the manager had been with the child, and the child caught the badge on the manager before falling. It was the manager who abandoned the child.

Thinking of the helplessness, fear and pain of the child at that time, the woman was heartbroken, but one was the one who loved her and the other was her closest relative. It is a fait accompli that the closest relatives are not there, and it is also a fact that those who loved her reported their selfishness. Presumably the woman should be helpless and desperate.

The woman used the old English nursery rhymes in the hotel to hang them in every room. According to the path suggested in nursery rhymes (the place indicated by the morning glow), the woman buried the child in the position indicated by the end point and put the metal piece next to the child.

Later, the manager handed over the hotel, and the woman told the manager that the only requirement after the hotel changed hands was that the nursery rhymes in each room could not be taken away, suggesting that there was a secret code in the nursery rhymes, but did not explain the truth of burying the children.

Women should pray that one day the secret code will be revealed, the truth will be revealed and the murderer will be punished.

Perhaps, English women use this nursery rhyme to expect God to open their eyes and guide those who solve the mystery to correct the murderer and avenge their son.

After reselling the hotel to the manager, the woman returned to Tokyo to commit suicide by taking poison.

And the manager, because of remorse, has been staying in the hotel to give the children a wake. I thought that if one day someone solved the mystery, he would confess the crime, and if no one solved it, he would continue to wait at the wake.

A sad lament, a hidden terrible truth.

It seems that the hotel was cursed, and then a terminally ill Kawasaki came to the hotel with a lot of jewels, which triggered a series of bloody cases caused by the sinister, curious and greedy human nature.

2. Leave the last fatherly love for the illegitimate child

Kawasaki, the owner of a jewelry store who married into a rich family in name only, cheated on his mistress and gave birth to an illegitimate child because of the depression of his married life.

Later, Mrs Kawasaki learned that she was terminally ill. In order to leave some property for the illegitimate child, she stole a box of jewelry from her wife's jewelry store and went to Baima Mountain Villa (Goose Hotel) far away from the city for a holiday. It took me half a year to unlock the spell of the hotel here, and according to the spell prompt, I found the London Bridge under the sunset glow (misunderstood as "sunset glow").

To his confusion, there is no other buried treasure in the position shown by the spell. Kawasaki thought he might have made a mistake, so he made a mistake and buried the jewels he carried with him, hoping that one day Yi Kai, an illegitimate child, could solve the riddle and get the jewels.

After Kawasaki buried the box, he found that there seemed to be a figure following him on the road, so he caught up with the stalker, the staff who had lived in the hotel for a long time (probably just the temporary staff of the hotel at that time), and they had an argument (it is estimated that Kawasaki also wanted to kill people? ), as a result, Kawasaki accidentally fell off a cliff and died.

The hotel manager reported the case and the police concluded that he died unexpectedly after investigation.

3. College students killed by curiosity

The former graduate student of Gongyi, a college student, was depressed and went out to travel. The private detective in Lu Yu You Yue went to the article and was entrusted by the article to secretly investigate Kawasaki's death. I had a very speculative chat with former Gong Yi, so I invited Gong Yi to stay at Mother Goose Hotel and help him solve nursery rhymes.

Curious about riddles, Yuan Gong kept checking all the rooms after checking into the hotel, chatting with the hotel manager, chefs, drivers and frequent guests staying in the hotel, and finally solved the mystery of the spell, and planned to start digging according to the time (London Bridge at sunrise) and place prompted by the secret language.

It never occurred to me that Kurumi and her boyfriend Jiang Bo, who had been hiding in the hotel for a year in the name of working, poisoned Gongyi at night after learning that the original riddle was solved, creating the illusion of suicide in the secret room to confuse the police, which led the police to misjudge again and draw the conclusion of suicide.

After this incident, neither Kimyou Kumiko nor enami dared to go to London Bridge to dig for treasures at once. They agreed to wait for a year temporarily to avoid unnecessary suspicion, and then wait for the opportunity of the same season next year.

4. The female version of Sherlock Holmes, the brave Lily couple

Yuan Gongyi's sister, Naoko Yuan, received a postcard from her brother shortly after she learned that her brother had committed suicide. She began to suspect her brother's suicide. Unbelievable, the content of the postcard is "When will Mary come home?" The content of the letter also mentioned that he would find a new starting point here to start over.

Naoko endured for a year, waiting for the same group of regular customers who stayed in the hotel with his brother in the same season, so as to explore the truth of his brother's death smoothly.

Naoko invited Qin Zhen, a close friend of the university, to help.

At the beginning of their stay in the hotel, they began to look for opportunities to talk with hotel guests, check some rooms and start investigation and reasoning.

On the third day after staying in the hotel, passenger Damu fell off a cliff and died. The police concluded that it was an accident. Naoko and Qin Zhen provided evidence to the police to prove that it was not an accident. A rotten board, which Damu used to cross the broken bridge, is a very strong new board. This rotten board should have been replaced by the murderer. Damu's death was a deliberate murder.

After careful investigation and reasoning, they also got the last item (inviting the private detective of the original public), the chef, the manager and the hotel driver Takase (finally, it can be inferred from the book that Kawasaki is an illegitimate child? ) With the help of light or dark, we can get the position indicated by the answer in Mother Goose's nursery rhyme spell: under London Bridge at sunset.

The two men went to the designated place with the police, dug up the empty wooden box, and the jewels disappeared.

The stout policeman and the tall and thin policeman combined the reasoning and evidence of Naoko and Qin Zhen, gathered all the people who stayed and worked in the hotel, and found out the murderer by using the evidence and well-founded reasoning process. The murderer is kurume and her boyfriend jumbo.

Kurume and enami waited for a year after killing Yuan Gong, and went to dig for treasure according to the mystery solved by Yuan Gong. They were discovered by greedy Damu and asked for hush money. They were killed by two people.

But even Kurumi and Jumbo, who killed two people, didn't know that the box of jewelry they got was fake. Kawasaki, a son-in-law jeweler, actually has no ability to appreciate jewelry. He only brought a fake that was replaced by a clever wife.

All the cases seem to be exposed. At night, Qin Zhen always felt that something was wrong. Shouldn't Kawasaki's secret be hidden in the nursery rhyme of Mother Goose or the secret of an English woman? Qin Zhen thought hard and realized it in the middle of the night. She pulled Naoko up and told her that she had finally solved the real mystery.

In fact, it is also the answer to Yuan Gong's nursery rhyme spell of Mother Goose: London Bridge at sunrise.

The grievances of the little boy who was buried under the bridge for eight years were finally revealed to the world, and the grief-stricken mother's heart was finally at peace. This is the secret hidden in the real mother goose nursery rhyme! Perhaps at this point, the cross that the manager has been carrying in his heart is a relief.

Love? Humanity? Think about it, I'm extremely scared.

The heart is heaven, but the mind is hell.
