Go east from Tiananmen Square, cross East Chang 'an Avenue, and Wangfujing Street is next to Beijing Hotel. Wangfujing Street was just an unknown village in Liao and Jin Dynasties. After the Yuan Dynasty built the metropolis, the village gradually became densely populated, forming a street called "T-street". In the Ming Dynasty, this street was just outside the Donghuamen Gate of the Forbidden City, adjacent to the Palace. At that time, there were ten palaces built on this street, which was called "Ten Streets in Wang Fu". Ten palaces were abolished in Qing Dynasty and renamed as "Wang Fu Street" or "Wang Fu Street"; Beiyang government divided this street into three sections in 19 15. The northern section is called "Wang Fu Street", the middle section is called "octagonal trough" (named after there were eight stone troughs for officials to drink horses during the Qianlong period), and the southern section is called "Wang Fu Street" because there is a sweet well. This street starts from East Chang 'an Avenue in the south and ends at China Art Museum in the north. It is the most famous commercial pedestrian street in Beijing. There are many high-rise buildings here, shops are scattered, goods are dazzling, and people come and go. It's really lively. The towering Oriental Plaza is magnificent in architecture and extraordinary in style. Its underground is Wangfujing Station of Metro 1 Line. Oriental Xintiandi Building is a collection of famous products and fine products. The famous Beijing Department Store, the famous Dong 'an Market, the largest handicraft store, the largest Xinhua Bookstore, the largest foreign language bookstore, the largest Chinese photo studio, Li Sheng Sporting Goods Center, medical equipment store, Wangfujing Shopping Center and Yao Dan Building are all in this street. Beijing Quanjude Roast Duck Restaurant, Wufangzhai, Quansuzhai, Puwufang and Donglaishun are also gathered here. Old brands such as Shengxifu Hat Shop and Tongshenghe Shoe Store and emerging stores such as New World Silk Store, Hendry Watch Store, Daming Glasses Company and Xinhua Women's and Children's Store have their own characteristics. Beijing Department Store is located in the west of Wangfujing Street. In the square in front of it, there is a statue of Zhang Binggui, a national model worker. On the front pedestal is Chen Yun's inscription "The Spirit of a Fire Shines on China". This Zhang Binggui was a candy salesman in a department store. Over the years, he has developed a precise skill. As long as the customer tells him how much candy to buy and weighs it with his hands, it will basically not go bad. He has become a signboard of department stores, and now many people take pictures in front of his statue every day. After years of hard work, Beijing department store is full of vitality, and branches have been opened in many big cities across the country, such as Guangzhou Wangfujing Department Store, Wuhan Wangfujing Department Store, Chengdu Wangfujing Department Store and so on. Dong 'an Market, adjacent to Beijing Department Store, also has a long history. It is said that Wangfujing used to be the training ground of the Eight Banners Magic Camp in Qing Dynasty, but it was abandoned during Guangxu period. In the 29th year of Guangxu, Dongan Market was built on this abandoned site. Later, with the formation of the embassy district in Dongjiaominxiang, some banks and firms serving foreigners settled in Wangfujing. Dong 'an Market moved to its present place and has been renovated in recent years, calling it "New Dong 'an Market". After the transformation, Sun Dongan Market perfectly combines modern commerce with traditional commerce, becoming another new highlight of Wangfujing Street. Wangfujing snack street is also a must-see place to visit Wangfujing Street. There are many stalls inside, and all kinds of Beijing specialties abound, such as candied haws and roasted scorpions, where you can also eat snacks from all over the country. Behind the snack street is an old Beijing street. There is a stone gate in this street, and the words "Dong 'an Old Town" are still legible. This is the old Dongan market in the past. Now all the stalls here sell things with Beijing characteristics, such as old Beijing cloth shoes, silks and satins, roast duck and so on. There are also clay figurines in this street. The master is about forty or fifty years old. He looks very ordinary and can pick up clay figurines with skillful hands. I don't know if he is a descendant of "Clay Fighter Zhang", but I think he can make a clay figurine like you according to your face in a short time, which is amazing and always attracts many people to stop and watch. The underground old Beijing street in Wangfujing is similar to the old Beijing street in snack city. The old Beijing-style statues in the street attracted a large number of people to watch. Several groups of statues of rickshaw drivers, singers and hairdressers are vividly carved and thought-provoking. Seeing rickshaw drivers reminds me of the camel Xiangzi written by Lao She, and seeing singers and hairdressers reminds me of the hard life of the lowest people in old Beijing, which makes people want to cherish today's hard-won happy life. Maybe everyone wants to experience the feeling of riding a scooter. Many people boarded it and took photos with it. I also went up and took photos. Further north, you reach the north entrance of Wangfujing Street, where there is a protected well, and the source of Wangfujing is recorded on the manhole cover. It is said that this is a well used by the imperial palace in the Ming Dynasty. According to the records of Jingshifang Lane in the 11th year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty, there were 1258 wells in the inner and outer cities of Beijing, most of which were salty and bitter, and only a few were sweet, so they didn't drink much, while Wangfujing had bitter taste. Both the Full Map of the Capital of Qianlong and the Measured Map of the Inner and Outer Cities of Beijing in the Second Year of the Republic of China (A.D. 19 13) show that there is only one well in this street, and it is clearly marked here. This well was lost in the 1920s./kloc-0 was discovered during the renovation of Wangfujing Street in 1998, and/kloc-0 was protected on September 9th, 1999. It can be said that the well is the root of this street. In the north of Wangfujing Street, there is a street outside Donghuamen. There is a night market snack called "Donghuamen Food Restaurant Night Market" on this street, which also attracts a large number of Wangfujing tourists to taste it. Further north, there is a Catholic church, also called "East Hall". Founded in the 12th year of Shunzhi in Qing Dynasty (1655), it is the second Catholic church in Beijing after Xuanwumen Church (Nantang). According to historical records, in the year of the Gengzi Incident (1900), with the connivance of Cixi, a large number of Boxers flooded into Beijing. /kloc-In May of 0/5, Dongtang was attacked by the Boxer for the first time. /kloc-in June of 0/5, the Boxer Rebellion began to besiege Xishiku Church (Xitang). Since then, this Catholic church was rebuilt, destroyed and renovated in the Tangshan earthquake. Now the church still stands here, and its classical European architectural style makes many young people come here to take wedding photos on location. The ancient Wangfujing Street has experienced hundreds of years of history since its rise, and every rise and fall it experienced is the historical epitome of the dynasty at that time. In the new era, it is full of vitality, attracting a large number of tourists every day and becoming a famous commercial pedestrian street at home and abroad.
