There is also a royal well named "Yannian Well" under the national flower platform on the north side of Renshou Hall in the Summer Palace, which reminds people of "prolonging life". The "Yannian Well" was dug in 1903, which is the special water source for the tea-making of Empress Dowager Cixi. There is also a little legend about it.

It is said that Cixi suffered from heatstroke for a long time one year. One day, when I was taking a nap, I dreamed of a well and sent someone to dig it. Sure enough, I dug it. Cixi drank a bowl of water, the summer heat disappeared, and she was refreshed, so she named it Yannian Well. After that, Empress Dowager Cixi often drank and made tea with well water. It's called "making a cup of tea from the well in Yannian, making doctors crawl all over the street". Cixi's affection for this well is better than gold and silver jewelry.
