Vietnam imported 64 T-90S tanks and T90SK from Russia in 20 17. In the same year, Russia confirmed that the delivery of tanks in this contract had begun. According to the plan, Vietnam will receive all T-9 tanks in 20 19. However, the combat power supplement of these equipment seems to be far from enough for the Vietnamese army.
Therefore, while receiving the T-90 tank, the Vietnamese army upgraded its T-55 tank and started the idea of the T-72 tank. T-72 is a Soviet tank and another gold-lettered signboard in Soviet army equipment. Many countries take T-72 as the main battle tank, and its main weapon is a 2A46 125mm sliding bore tank gun with short recoil distance.
It can fire armored shells and armor-piercing projectiles. In terms of defense, the upper part of the car body adopts composite armor, and the front upper armor is 200 mm thick, which is undoubtedly attractive to the Vietnamese army.
Many people think that this T-72 equipment should also be purchased from Russia, but surprisingly, Vietnam plans to introduce it from Ukraine. Because in fact, it is not surprising to introduce Soviet-made equipment from Russia or Ukraine. After all, it is a weapon of the Soviet era, and Russia and Ukraine may inherit and develop into export weapons.
In terms of T-72 tanks, Ukraine has undoubtedly done quite well. In recent years, the continuous improvement has upgraded the T-72' s combat capability, and its attempt to modernize the T-72AMT main battle tank has become increasingly mature. It is one of Ukraine's dreams to introduce it to the world. Compared with before, one of the biggest selling points of the upgraded new T-72AMT is that it can carry precision laser-guided missiles.
So its lethality is naturally stronger. However, although Vietnam has the intention to buy Ukrainian T-72 tanks and Ukraine also has the intention to promote this type of weapons to the outside world, it is not known whether this business can be promoted in the end. After all, Russia is also doing arms business. Moreover, it is really unknown whether Russia will stumble from the current incompatible relationship with Ukraine.
