Introduction to the Ming Tombs (in Chinese and English)

The Ming Tombs are located in the northwest suburb of Beijing, about 50 kilometers away from the city. They are the tombs of thirteen emperors in the Ming Dynasty (A.D. 1368 to 1644).

Dingling is the mausoleum of the tenth emperor of Ming Dynasty and his two empresses. Dingling underground palace is the first underground building excavated by 1956 ~ 1957.

Dingling consists of five halls, all of which are stone structures, with a total area of 1 195 square meters. The front middle hall is 7.2m high, and the left and right auxiliary halls are 7. 1m high. There are three thrones in the nave. The back hall is 9.5 meters high and houses coffins.

The funerary objects in Dingling include more than 3,000 pieces of gold and silver jewelry, jade, porcelain, lacquerware and silk products.
