There are two main types of hand-twisted gourds: local hand-twisted gourds and American gourds.

The local hand-twisted gourd is a very petite gourd among the traditional small waist gourds in China. Compared with the average gourd with a height of more than ten or twenty centimeters, such a small gourd is rare. If the shape is good, the cortex is even less. There is a saying that "grass is golden".

After years of improvement, American gourd has become the most common hand-twisted gourd variety in the market because of its geometric shape and high yield, but it can't be compared with the traditional hand-twisted gourd in aesthetic and collection value.
