Handstrings are beads, formerly known as "rosary beads", which refers to a portable instrument that uses a thread to pass through a certain number of beads and is used to count when chanting Buddha or holding a spell.
Generally speaking, the origin of beads is due to the fashion of ancient Indians winding tassels and ribbons, which spread to later generations and gradually evolved into beads.
Related precautions:
Buddhism believes that for people who believe in Buddhism, or who want to seek happiness and avoid evil by wearing beads, in addition to the most important and fundamental precautions, they should also know the following basic precautions:
1. When beads are not used or not worn, they should be placed in Buddhist temples or in front of Buddha statues. Buddhists with incense should use incense every morning before getting up and using beads.
2. When the beads are hung around the neck or on the wall, the mother beads (Buddha's head and stupa) should face upwards.
3. rosary should not be used unless chanting. When you hold it, you should count carefully above the waist. Don't wave or swing the beads at will when you hold your thoughts.
Beads should not be used to count people or calculate the amount.
5. Tantric practitioners, who are used to reciting the beads used in dharma practice, must put them in the palm of their hands, wear them on their heads and make a wish, and then put them on a treasure plate or a silver plate together with instruments such as the Vajrayana pestle. Don't mix with the beads you carry with you in your daily life.
6. Don't place beads at will, and don't let them touch the ground.
7. Wash your hands before touching the beads. Don't touch the beads with your hands that have been exposed to dirty things such as onions, garlic, leeks, meat and fish. You'd better not wear beads when drinking. When smoking, be careful not to spit the smoke into the beads.
8. Don't show your beads to others easily, don't touch other people's beads at will, and don't entrust others to keep them.
9. Please don't wear beads when engaging in heavy physical labor, sports activities or wading, bathing or shampooing, so as to avoid injury.
10. When the husband and wife share the same room, they should take off the beads and put them away from the bedside.
1 1. Don't put beads in your pants pocket at will. Take off the beads when you go to the toilet, or put them in your coat pocket or hang them around your neck.
12. If you find that your beads are damaged, you should replace them in time, or put them in the stove to support the wise deity, or throw them into rivers, lakes and seas to support the water god.
13. Buddhism believes that in addition, it is even more impossible to hold beads inferior to Dharma. The so-called "Buddha beads are inferior to the law" generally refers to those who violate Vietnamese vows, hold Jaken hostage, make innocent people, executioners (butchers), cannibals, thieves and others; Or snatched it from others; Or lost by others; Or taken from the decoration of Buddha statues; Or burned; Or different kinds, different shapes and sizes, damaged beads, etc. Are not as good as the law and should not be worn.
These precautions may be a little difficult for most non-Buddhist believers to accept. But people should not forget that all beings are equal and all people living in society need to respect each other. Respect for others means respect for yourself. Of course, a person can have his own view of the world, but at the same time, it is best not to comment on how others understand, express and treat.
14. In addition, all beads made of organic gemstones, such as corals, pearls, dragonflies, amber, etc., should not come into contact with colored liquids such as tea leaves and rusty water to avoid staining and discoloration.
15. Metal fittings of beads should be kept away from sulfur springs, bleaches and chemicals. Because once metal ornaments come into contact with these items, it is easy to make the surface of the ornaments oxidized to black and lose their luster: if they are accidentally touched, they should be wiped clean in time. If the silver jewelry loses its luster, it can be wiped with silver cloth or scrubbed with silver washing water to restore its luster and shine as before.
