Taoyuan County is located in the northwest of Hunan Province, bordering Yuanling County of Huaihua City, Cili County and Yongding County of Zhangjiajie City in the west, Linli County and Dingcheng District of Changde City in the east, Shimen County in the north and Anhua County of Yiyang City in the south. The county starts from Wanjiahe River in Gao Feng Village, Niuchehe Township in the west and reaches Caoxiezhou in Renfeng Village, Sanchagang Township in the east, with a straight line distance of about 75 kilometers. From Shiziling, Xuejiachong Village, Xi 'an Town in the south to Laopeng Village, Reshi Town in the north, the straight-line distance is about118km, and the county covers an area of 4,442 square kilometers.
