First, counters and clips are used to count chanting. Every time you read 108, the small silver ornaments on the counter move one space. After all the small silverware moves, the small silverware on the other counter moves one space. Then the first counter starts again, and so on. After all the small silverware on the other side was moved, the clip skipped a bodhi, and when the clip skipped 108, it was chanting.
