With the passage of time and the development of jewelry and jade identification technology, the original Xinjiang local standard DB65/035- 1999 Hetian jade is too old, and many of its clauses have become very unsuitable and need to be revised urgently. The revision of this standard has absorbed the achievements of previous work. At the same time, according to two national standards, GB/T- 16552 "Jewelry and Jade Name" and GB/T- 16553 "Jewelry and Jade Identification", it has referred to the Interpretation of National Standards for Jewelry and Jade, Systematic Gemmology and CII of the International Jewelry Federation.

In the national standard GB/T- 1 16552 "Names of Jewelry and Jade" revised in June 2003, it is clearly stipulated that "Hetian Jade" can be used as the identification name, which represents that "Hetian Jade" has evolved into the basic name of natural jade varieties. This is of great significance for Hetian jade to inherit the long-standing jade culture of the Chinese nation, and is also conducive to Hetian jade becoming a famous jade variety recognized in China and even the world in commercial trade.

Therefore, in 2003, the state officially confirmed that tremolite jade should be classified as Hetian jade, but did not make any identification choice for the specific origin. It also officially classified Russian materials and Qinghai materials as Hetian jade.
