Diamonds are divided into 23 grades: D/E/F/G/H/I/J/K/L/M/N/O/P/Q/R/S/T/U/V/W/X/Y/Z, * * *, and each grade has a different name and a slightly different color. Class d is called completely colorless diamond, which belongs to rare diamond and belongs to a higher grade in diamond color; E/F grade is called colorless diamond, which is a rare diamond second only to D grade. G/H diamond is called near colorless diamond, and its value is also very high. Compared with D/E/F diamond, it will have a slight color, but it will not hinder its value. I/J grade is also called near colorless, but this kind of diamond will have a slight color when tested, which is of high value; K-Z diamonds are dark in color and poor in fire color.

Grade d: completely colorless. The highest color level is extremely rare.

Class e: colorless. Only gem experts can detect trace colors. This is a very rare diamond.

Class f: colorless. A small amount of color can only be detected by jewelry experts, but it is still considered colorless. It belongs to high quality diamonds.

G-H grade: almost colorless. Compared with higher grade diamonds, it has a slight color. But diamonds of this color still have high value.

I-J grade: almost colorless. A slight color can be detected. The value is higher.

K-M grade: dark color, poor fire color, not recommended.

N-Z grade: dark color and poor fire color, not recommended.

The colors of diamonds are divided into two series.

Common colorless series include colorless transparent, nearly colorless and light yellow; There are also color series including dark yellow, gray, pink, black and so on. The color classification of diamonds is based on the color classification established by GIA, Gemological Institute of America, from "D" (transparent and colorless, starting from the initial letter of diamonds) to "Z" (yellow). Colored diamond is a kind of rare and extremely expensive diamond. The color grading system is not suitable for colored diamonds.

In the color classification of diamonds, D/E/F diamonds are transparent and colorless, rare and precious; The chromaticity of G-J diamonds is common, and the color is close to colorless, which is easy to distinguish, but it is not easy for ordinary people to distinguish. Diamonds below grade K are close to light yellow in color. These grades of diamonds are relatively cheap, and people who are familiar with diamonds can sometimes tell them with the naked eye. D-class diamonds are whiter, and later diamonds become more and more yellow. P diamonds are close to yellow diamonds.

Color grading

The classification of colored diamonds in diamond rings is determined by the repeated comparison between the diamonds to be classified and the standard colorimetric stones under the irradiation of special diamond lamps in the grading environment of professional laboratories. Therefore, for ordinary consumers, one or two grades of diamonds are almost the same under the usual sunshine and illumination.

The classification of diamond color in the world jewelry industry is very strict, and all countries have their corresponding evaluation norms. As long as uncut bare diamonds are taken as the judgment object, it is enough to objectively and fairly judge the color grade of diamonds. The inlaid diamonds are influenced by metals (such as platinum) when judging punctuality. It is difficult to make an objective and accurate judgment simply by making the color of diamonds appear whiter and improving the color grade.

What color diamond is good?

After reading this color grading table, we all know that the higher the color grade, the better the colorless diamond, and the darker the color, the worse the quality. The quality of diamonds is basically D-F colorless grade, and G-J is almost colorless grade. From k down, it is eliminated directly, because diamonds will gradually turn yellow from k down.

Therefore, when selecting diamonds, I-J grade is also in the near colorless field, but a trace of yellowish and colored diamonds, such as yellow, green, blue, brown, pink, orange, red, black and purple. It is listed as a treasure among diamonds, and it is expensive. Red diamonds are the most valuable.
