Visual communication design (original decorative art design) is one of the earliest and largest majors in our college. This major was established in 1988. From scratch, it has gradually developed into an art design discipline with good social reputation and high professional level. The major of visual communication design has been actively cultivating high-quality artistic design talents with innovative consciousness and creativity for the country for many years.

Politically, it is required to master the basic principles of Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought and Deng Xiaoping Theory, love the socialist motherland, support the leadership of the production party, adhere to the Four Cardinal Principles, abide by the law, and establish a scientific world outlook and a life outlook of serving the people.

In business, students are required to know the development history of Chinese and foreign design art, have a solid modeling ability and professional design foundation, have a good sense of innovation and creativity, be familiar with the production process, materials and various production technologies of this major, understand the relationship between design, production, marketing and market, have strong practical ability and master the computer application technology of this major.

At present, there are nearly 400 undergraduates and dozens of graduate students in this major. , teachers are strong. There are two full professors, two associate professors and six lecturers. Two of them are doctors (one is studying). There are seven masters (one is studying), with reasonable age structure and perfect business echelon. The hardware includes photolithography laboratory and silk screen laboratory. Over the years, this major has made unremitting efforts to improve the professional level and teaching level of teachers and achieved good results. Teachers and students have participated in various design competitions at home and abroad for many times, and they have gained a lot and achieved remarkable results. Greatly improved the social reputation of our school.

Graduates go to advertising companies, design companies, newspapers and magazines, and online media in the media field; All kinds of institutions of higher learning or higher vocational colleges in the education system; Planning and marketing departments of commercial companies. Cultivate professionals engaged in the design, teaching and research of environmental art such as architecture, interior, landscape, exhibition and community planning.

Planning and design direction of tourism products

Cultivate senior application-oriented professionals who can grasp the consumption concept of gifts and tourism products and engage in the design, development, planning and marketing of tourism product design and decorative product design. 1. Training goal: to train senior professionals with the design, teaching and research abilities of graphic design, animation graphic design and other related majors with sculpture creation, urban sculpture and landscape design, environmental mural and landscape design and decorative painting creation as the main goals.

Second, the knowledge and ability: through study and training, students should have good artistic accomplishment, master the theoretical knowledge of public art design, understand the development trend and frontier dynamics of this discipline, be familiar with the characteristics and production methods of various craft materials, and have the comprehensive ability of sculpture creation, urban sculpture and landscape design, mural art and landscape design, decorative painting creation and related graphic design and animation modeling design.

Main courses: sketch, color, three major components, decoration foundation, sculpture foundation, metal technology foundation, model reproduction technology, traditional mural copying, figure line drawing and heavy color, Chinese and foreign traditional sculpture research, sculpture materials and technology, mural design and technology (A, B, C, D), landscape art design, surreal painting, easel sculpture creation, comprehensive design and performance.

Fourth, the main practical teaching links: in the implementation of professional design courses, the practical application of different materials and processes is emphasized, and the practical teaching links such as market research, company internship, investigation and collection, and graduation design are emphasized.

Employment destination: Graduates can engage in sculpture, mural design, landscape design, animation modeling design, graphic design, research and development, application, teaching and other work in public art and design departments, including urban environmental planning and design departments, garden bureau, decoration companies, animation companies, advertising companies, magazines, scientific research, enterprises and institutions. Jewelry design direction was formerly decorative art design, which was established in 1993. This major introduces the jewelry design system into the undergraduate class of higher education for the first time. 15 years of professional construction has enabled this major to have a strong faculty and a high level of teaching and scientific research. Since 15, teachers and students of this major have won many international and domestic design awards, and now they have enjoyed a high reputation in the industry. This major is a characteristic major of Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology.

Four, the main practical teaching links: In addition to the graduation design link, arrange a certain amount of practical teaching links in the teaching of professional courses, around the characteristics of design types and the practical application of materials, and jointly develop design project practice with enterprises.

Employment destination: After graduation, students can engage in research, development, application and teaching in design and related fields in various jewelry companies and design industries related to decorative arts. Leather Craft Room is the main experimental base for leather-related courses in decorative art design, College of Art and Design. In recent years, according to the implementation of the college laboratory development policy, the leather craft room is open to all teachers, students and the society.

The establishment of leather craft room is mainly to provide teaching AIDS and technical support for courses such as footwear design and manufacturing, luggage design and manufacturing, to cultivate students' practical ability, and to provide practical learning space for students studying related courses in actual craft making and related machine operation. To enable students to study in a down-to-earth manner and give full play to their creativity on the basis of theoretical knowledge and modern technology.

There are 2 teachers in the leather workshop, 1 teaching assistant. The workshop has advanced teaching equipment at home and abroad, which fully provides two-way support for teachers and students, so that students can give full play to their creativity in various competitions at home and abroad, realize their imagination in the workshop and turn their creativity into reality.

Leather craft room aims at assisting teaching and serving teachers and students, and provides high-quality craft support and services for teachers and students of the whole school and related social craft design fields as much as possible, serving high-quality teaching and various scientific research work in the school. The major of new media and animation was founded in 1999, and it was officially enrolled in the autumn of 2000. At that time, it was called computer art design, which was a sub-direction of art design specialty. As far as the background is concerned, the establishment of this major is the inevitable result of the rapid development, wide popularization and cross-infiltration of information technology with other majors, which makes the traditional industry work and operate more convenient, simple and efficient in the new mode through information means; From the perspective of the development of the College of Art and Design, it is a concrete embodiment and need to build a school-running pattern that pays equal attention to tradition and modernity. The approval of the new animation major has made our school a big step, and truly established a complete framework from digital information content design (with animation as the core) to information interaction design (with new media design as the goal). At the beginning of 2006, the new professional evaluation report based on this concept was affirmed by the evaluation team. This new framework also includes the idea and goal of establishing characteristic specialty in teaching and research section. Our animation is not only an animation in the traditional sense, but also contains many branches and excitement in the field of information and fashion, which preserves the soul of animation, strengthens the expansion of new media and explores the possibility of information expression. Our new media design is the design of interactive platform and interactive mode for digital content dissemination, and it is the transit and key to realize "digital experience". Both of them have opened the digital curtain of creative culture industry. According to this new framework, in 2006, after consultation and discussion with colleagues led by the School of Design, we changed the professional name to new media and animation.

We are committed to developing the new media and animation specialty into the most open and forward-looking media innovation and application-oriented teaching and research institution. In daily teaching, students are not only required to practice the whole process of animation and media creative production, but also to think about the value independently, practice and bear the results of design decisions.
