Many years ago, there was a long and mysterious legend in Beijing: 1900, when Eight-Nation Alliance attacked Beijing, Empress Dowager Cixi kept eight carts of gold, silver and jewels in the Forbidden City firmly in an ancient well in the secret residence of eunuchs outside the palace.
