Zhushikou evolved from the pig market. In the Ming dynasty, it was just a market for buying and selling pigs. In the Qing Dynasty, the economy and culture of Qianmen area became increasingly prosperous, and reached its peak during the Qianlong period. Since then, the prosperity of Houmenqiao at the northern end of the central axis has been replaced here.
From the front of Qianmenlouzi, from north to south, several important hutongs, such as Buxiangzi, Guo Zicheng, Jiang Hutong and Bingshi Xie Jie in the east, Liangdian Street, Food Street, Wang Widow Xie Jie, Shaanxi Lane and Nankou in the west, all open on zhushikou Street. It was not until the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China that Tianqiao, Hongqiao, Wanming Road and Xiangchang Road began to take shape in the south of zhushikou.
Yan Dou Cong Kao, written by Mr. Chen Zongfan, quoted Shuntian Times as saying, "Take zhushikou Street as the classics to distinguish elegance from vulgarity." This further indicates that the geographical location of the Pearl City is important, which is not only a watershed between the rich and the poor in Cheng Nan, but also a bridge between elegance and vulgarity.

Although the name is indecent, there lived a great celebrity in this street in the Qing Dynasty, that is, the first-class minister Ji of the Qianlong period. Legend has it that one year, Emperor Qianlong played a joke on him. Qianlong pointed to two plates of beans on the table, said "two plates of beans" and ordered Ji Xiaolan to make the next sentence. Ji Xiaogang thought of "one euro oil" without thinking. Gan long immediately changed his tune and said, "I said' two butterflies fight' and the two butterflies fight together."
Ji Xiaolan said shrewdly, "I am right about seagull swimming. A seagull bird is swimming in the water." Ganlong has another problem. As he spoke, he tiptoed up and asked Ji Xiaolan to say a word about his foot, which should not only conform to his identity, but also show the word "foot". Ji Xiaolan immediately thought of the place name "Pig Market" where he lived.
The pig's foot is called hoof, which consists of foot and emperor. Isn't this the emperor's foot? So he replied that the word was "hoof". Hearing this, Qianlong flew into a rage. When Ji Xiaolan explained, it was hard for me to say anything.
