It belonged to Sanmiao State in ancient times and Luoxian County in Qin Dynasty, which was established at the end of Eastern Han Dynasty.

County was named Pingjiang in the later Tang Dynasty.

During the Spring and Autumn Period, Pingjiang belonged to the state of Chu.

In the Qin Dynasty, Luozi was named Luoxian County.

At the end of the Han Dynasty, the eastern part of Luoxian County was designated as Hanchang County, and it was renamed Wuchang County during the Three Kingdoms period.

In the second year of Tang Shenlong (AD 706), it was analyzed that the eastern boundary of Xiangyin County was located in Changjiang County.
