It is called "Qindao" because Gao thinks that the elegance of guqin makes it a symbol of literati's life, and the musical attribute of this instrument becomes its accessory, while the center is the unique ideology of the old literati. He called this abstract consciousness "Qindao". But in Gao's works, "Tao" is not an absolute thing, it is more like an idea pinned on the times. The connection between guqin and many sages finally made it a necessity for literati, and then it was mentioned side by side with the virtue of a gentleman, which produced the "Qin Dao" in Gao's eyes. Gao believes that in addition to Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism have also influenced the formation and development of "Qindao". For example, in his view, playing the piano and choosing a place are very similar to the tantric rituals recorded in the scriptures. Although fascinated by classicism, he hopes to clarify the origin of guqin and avoid following others' advice as much as possible. It is precisely because of this rational spirit that his works have long occupied an important position in the history of Guqin.
