Yi Shu, formerly known as Ni Yishu, a Hong Kong writer, has moved to Canada. Yi Shu was born in Zhenhai, Ningbo, Zhejiang, and settled in Hong Kong at the age of five. She started her writing career in middle school and published her first collection of novels in 1963. After graduation, she worked as a reporter for Ming Pao, an editor of a film magazine, a hotel director, a public relations director, a government press officer and a TV screenwriter.
Besides novels, she also writes essays and interviews with people, and also writes a column in Ming Pao Weekly under the pseudonym "Isabelle". Yi Shu's The Story of a Rose and many other works have been adapted into movies.
