The Tower of London is an iconic palace and fortress in London, England, located on the Thames. James I (1566- 1625) was the last ruler to live in the palace. The Tower of London used to be a fortress, an armory, a treasury, a mint, a palace, an observatory, a refuge and a prison, especially for prisoners in the upper class. It was last used as a prison during World War II.

Henry III was painted white, hence the name White Pagoda.
