1987 Guilin University of Technology (formerly Guilin Institute of Metallurgical Geology) offers a master's degree in jewelry, 1989 Guilin University of Technology (formerly Guilin Institute of Metallurgical Geology) offers the first four-year undergraduate jewelry major in China. At present, only China Geo-University (Wuhan), Guilin University of Technology and China Geo-University (Beijing) have set up master's and doctoral disciplines in gemology, among which China Geo-University (Wuhan) and China Geo-University (Beijing) have independently set up second master's and doctoral disciplines in gemology, and Guilin University of Technology has set up a special research direction in gemology under the five two disciplines of geology.
