Tanzanite, also called zoisite [1], is a silicate mineral. It was used as a decorative material in the early days. Since 1967 discovered the blue-purple transparent crystal in Tanzania, its position in the gem world has been continuously improved. To commemorate the newly established Republic of Tanzania at that time, it was named Tanzanite, and it was also called Danquan Stone abroad.

Tanzanite was mistaken for olivine at first, and then for manganese olivine. It was finally named correctly by Tanzanian geologist Lan mcleod. This is a new gem recognized by the world. This gem was first discovered in Arusha area at the foot of Equatorial Snow Mountain in 1967. 1969, Tiffany introduced it to the international jewelry market.
