Time flies. In the 1990s, by chance, Qi Jianhua read the magazine Revolutionary Furnace published by the History Research Association of the Second Field Military and Political University, and one of the articles recalled that Qi Jianhua invented the Fast Literacy Law, which made him get in touch with the old chief and Zhang's mother who had lost news for many years. 1998, entrusted by his mother Zhang Wenqiu, General Shao Hua invited Qi Jianhua to Beijing by telegram. Due to his weak body, Qi Jianhua asked his daughter Qi Hongwei to make a special trip to visit Zhang's mother who missed him on his behalf.
1999 13 September, the TV series "A Thousand Mills of Beats", which reflected the story of college students in the Second Field Army, premiered in Beijing: Liu Huaqing, the former deputy (former director of the Political Department of the Second Field Army) who attended the premiere, learned of Qi Jianhua's recent situation and said emotionally, "We can't watch comrades who have made contributions to the revolution fall in poverty like this. Seven days later, Liu Huaqing and zhangyan jointly wrote to Tian Chengzhong, secretary of Pingdingshan Municipal Party Committee, suggesting that Qi Jianhua, who had made some contributions to the national literacy campaign in the 1950s, should be given necessary care. The Henan Provincial Party Committee, Pingdingshan Municipal Committee and Jiaxian County Committee attached great importance to it, and with the assistance of the History Research Association of Henan Second Field Army University, they made arrangements for Qi Jianhua's later life. In May 2000, Qi Jianhua moved into his new house in Tang Jie Town, which was built with special funds from the government. The house is engraved with the words "Former Residence of People's Hero Qi Jianhua".
Around 2000, dozens of newspapers and TV stations all over the country reported and broadcast his bumpy experience and touching deeds of innovating cultural and educational undertakings. At one time, people from all over the country came and called in an endless stream. Among them, a PLA senior colonel solemnly gave him two military salutes and said, "You are the pride of three generations of our PLA." For flowers, cameras and hands extended to him, he always said, "I have contributed too little to the people."
Qi Jianhua moved into his new house just over a year ago and died in his hometown Jiaxian Hospital on August 1 1, 2006, at the age of 8 1. One month before his death, he was still lecturing at Jiaxian Continuing Education School, and often worked overtime to answer difficult questions for students. It is "the silkworm will weave until it dies in spring, and the candle will drain the wick every night".
Qi Hongwei, the eldest daughter of Qi Jianhua, who works in Wuhan, said in the article "Remembering Qi Jianhua, his father who devoted himself to innovative education": "My father's life is a glorious life, an upright life and a life without regrets. Although my father's life has passed away, he left a precious Chinese cultural heritage on page 3, that is, the new four-speed methods of "Chinese characters", "children's quick literacy", "quick teaching method" and "quick abacus calculation". As his daughter, I am the witness of my father's invention and creation, and the first and biggest beneficiary of the new law. So I will follow in my father's footsteps, carry forward his inventions, pass them on to future generations and benefit the people. When these inventions are more widely used in the cause of human progress, my father will feel happy and proud. "
