"Xi Shi Tongue" is also called "sand clam" and "sea clam". Its name comes from an interesting myth. Legend has it that during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, after Gou Jian, the King of Yue, destroyed Wu, his wife secretly found someone to cheat the stone, tied a stone to it, and then sank into the sea. Since then, a kind of "sea mussel" shellfish resembling human tongue has appeared in the coastal mud, which is called "Xishi Tongue".
"sand clam" grows in the sediments of shallow sea, and its meat is tender and refreshing, which is deeply loved by diners.
"Xishi Tongue" is produced in coastal areas such as Xiamen, Fujian and Qingdao, Shandong.
