The author thinks that there is a mammal fauna in the Huaihe River basin in the Quaternary, which is different from the saber-toothed elephant-giant panda fauna in southern China and the China baiji-eumycete fauna in northern China. Geographically, it can be called the Quaternary Huaihe Fauna. According to the characteristics of animals, it can be called Trogontherium-Elaphurus fauna. The stratigraphic age of this fauna is late Pleistocene.
