Can succulents be grafted? Solution of grafting method for succulent plants
Grafting is a very common method of artificial propagation of plants, while the propagation of succulents is mostly by cutting leaves, pruning and dividing plants. Grafting seems relatively rare? However, this is not the case. succulent grafting is also a technical job, and many people don't like it. So, which succulents can be grafted and how can succulents be grafted?

The cactus was grafted with the blooming arrow lotus.

Succulent grafting is generally used on succulent plants with relatively slow growth, such as cactus, Apocynaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Araceae, etc., and succulent plants with fast growth and strong reproductive ability do not need grafting. Here, Uncle Gardener will share with you two cases of grafting succulents. You can refer to the grafting process through pictures and texts.

First, the grafting method of cactus

Grafting of cactus should be carried out in the growing period (more in spring and autumn). This grafting method is relatively simple and can be operated with a thin blade. In early summer, it can be carried out on sunny days with relatively high temperature and humidity. If the air is dry, it is best to operate it sooner or later. The operation method is as follows:

Grafting crab claw orchid with cactus as rootstock

1. When selecting rootstocks and scions, you should choose strong and disease-free, don't use lignified parts that are too old, and those that are too young and tender are not suitable.

2. The level of rootstock interface is determined by many factors. Varieties without chlorophyll should be grafted higher to ensure adequate light and product supply.

It takes about 2 weeks to manage carefully and then put it in the shade. Can't direct sunlight, joints can't get wet before completely healed. After survival, the lateral buds and branches produced by rootstocks should be removed as soon as possible to avoid affecting the growth of scions.

Second, the grafting method of cactus

When grafting cactus, we should pay attention to selecting grass balls with a diameter of not less than 5cm. The grafted succulents should have leaves with a growth period of not less than one year, and then prepare blades and scissors. For operations:

Cactus rhizome is ready for grafting.

1. Cut off all the small thorns at the top with scissors.

2. Sterilize the blade with alcohol, place the blade between the two edges of the center of the ball, and vertically cut a hole about 1.5cm wide and 2cm deep (don't cut at the edges to avoid large deformation in the later stage). 12 side is half of one side, 1 1 or 13 side is one more side and one less side.

Tips In addition to cactus and cactus, old plants that have crossed the yellow road can also be used as rootstocks for grafting. The method is similar to the above. Generally, a 2-3 cm deep longitudinal incision is cut on the stem of the rootstock, and then the scion is inserted, and then the joint is wrapped with a plastic bag. Whether the grafting is successful can be judged in 3-5 days, and the plastic bag can be uncovered after half a month.
