How to plant and manage peony flowers?
We all know that peony is the king of flowers, especially in Luoyang, Henan Province, where the annual Peony Festival is held every year. As for how to cultivate and manage peony, there is a lot of knowledge here. Below I will explain how to plant peony well from three aspects: the characteristics of peony, the cultivation method of peony and the maintenance and management of peony.

First, the characteristics of peony:

Peony likes warm, cool, dry and sunny environment. Like sunshine, but also resistant to semi-shade, cold, drought, weak alkali, avoid water, heat and direct sunlight.

Second, the cultivation of peony (one out of three):

1, select varieties.

Because there are many kinds of peonies (about 100). If the environment is the main factor affecting flowering, then the selection of varieties is the basis of flowering. Generally, varieties with Miao Zhuang, strong growth, compact plant type, robust branches, more than 5 total branches, complete root system and no obvious pests and diseases should be selected.

2. Choose the soil.

Peony is suitable to grow in loose, deep, fertile, dry terrain, good drainage, leeward and sunny, and is not suitable for water accumulation in neutral sandy loam. (ps: It seems that peony is particularly dependent on environmental factors, and we need to keep the soil soft at all times. )

Step 3 choose the season.

Generally from late September of 10 to early October of 10. Planting and rameting are carried out simultaneously. It is not suitable to plant peony alone in spring, because the roots begin to move in early spring and consume a lot of nutrients and water in early March.

4. Plant peonies.

After the first three selections are done, you can plant peony next. (First excavation, second piling and third pouring)

(1) Dig a hole. The pit is not big, 30 wide? 40 centimeters, 40 centimeters deep? 50 cm pit, adjusted according to the size of seedlings.

(2) mounds. Use farmyard manure and excavated topsoil to build a mixed mound in the pit, and put some seasonings (compound fertilizer, etc.). ), slowly put down the seedlings until they are half full, then loosen the seedlings, and finally flatten and compact them.

(3) water. Water the roots immediately after planting. Follow up according to the wet and dry conditions of the soil. If the soil is too dry, water it after 1 week. Don't expose the roots of plants. Covering with fine soil can keep the soil temperature and improve the survival rate.

Third, the maintenance and management of peony (watering, chasing, removing and covering):

1, water. (1) Newly planted seedlings should be thoroughly watered with fixed root water. Make the root system fully contact with the soil in order to absorb water and nutrients from it. (2) Watering green water once during germination (combined with quick-acting fertilizer) is beneficial to the growth and development of peony. (3) The watering time should be regular. Summer usually chooses morning and evening. In winter, water it when the weather is warm. Summer rainy season is hot and rainy. If you don't water it, it will hurt your roots. Water should also be controlled in autumn. Too much or too little water will make it difficult to bloom next year.

2. Top dressing. The large-leaf propagation of peony flowers consumes a lot of nutrients, which determines that phosphorus and potassium fertilizers must be given priority to, and peony plants should be supplemented by foliar spraying and watering fertilization. Usually, the daily management is based on the principle of thin fertilizer and more fertilizer, about 20 days 1 time, 1 day1time, until the leaves fall. Usually, no topdressing is applied in the same year, and fertilization is applied three times a year. What is it called after the soil thaws for the first time in spring? Flower fertilizer? . The second time after the flower, what is it called? Bud fertilizer? . The third topdressing is called. Fat in winter? .

3, intertillage weeding. Farming and weeding are usually combined. Intertillage has a positive effect on improving soil aeration and regulating soil moisture. Weeds not only compete with peony for water and nutrients, but also affect ventilation and light transmission, causing pests and diseases. Now that it's spring, do you still want to press it? Except small and clean? The principle of loosening soil and weeding, especially in July and August, when it is hot and rainy, weeds breed quickly and need to be removed frequently.

4, plastic trimming. Plastic pruning is an important technical operation of peony cultivation, which mainly includes: fixing stem, digging bud, picking bud, removing residual bud and so on. Its purpose is to keep the balance of plants, with proper branches and beautiful and symmetrical posture. Keeping the dynamic balance between the aboveground part and the underground part, removing the redundant buds of the branches, making them ventilated and transparent, is conducive to concentrating nutrients and making them grow vigorously.

5. Shading and ventilation. High temperature and hot air in summer directly affect the survival of plants. Peony must be shaded in those days, with a shading rate of about 50% and good ventilation.
