2. First, the name of Dalian originated from Dalian Bay and began in modern times. In the 6th year of Guangxu reign in Qing Dynasty (1880), Li Hongzhang, the minister of Beiyang, mentioned Dalian Bay in "Notes on the Construction Planning of Dalian Bay Military Port". During the Japanese imperialist occupation, in the 31st year of Guangxu (1905), it was called Dalian in February.
3. After liberation, in April, 1949, 1, Dalian and Lushun were collectively called Lvda City. 1981February was renamed Dalian with the approval of the State Council.
