What is thyroid cancer?
Thyroid cancer is the most common malignant tumor in head and neck. Thyroid carcinoma originates from the malignant tumor of thyroid follicular epithelium or epithelial cells near follicles. The thyroid gland is located in the front and lower part of the neck Adam's apple, secreting thyroid hormone and calcitonin, which is used to regulate the metabolism of the human body. The etiology of thyroid cancer is not very clear, which may be related to many factors. In the past 20 years, the fastest growing incidence of solid malignant tumor is higher in women than in men.
There are no obvious symptoms in the early stage of thyroid cancer, but with the growth of the tumor, it will compress some nearby tissues and show some symptoms, such as lump, pain, voice change, dyspnea and dysphagia.
What are the symptoms of thyroid cancer?
1, block
The thyroid gland is located in front of the neck, so it is easy for people to touch it if they use a lump. Usually, the lump of thyroid cancer is painless and moves up and down with swallowing. Many people didn't notice it because it didn't hurt. So pay attention to some subtle changes in the body.
2, hoarse voice
When the thyroid tumor develops to a certain extent, it may invade the laryngeal nerve and cause the patient's hoarseness.
3. Difficulty in swallowing
Dysphagia is one of the main symptoms of thyroid cancer, because when thyroid tumor invades laryngeal nerve, dysphagia will occur. Therefore, when dysphagia occurs, we must pay attention to it and check the thyroid gland in time.
4, difficulty breathing
With the growth of thyroid tumor volume to a certain extent, patients will also have difficulty breathing.
What is particle therapy?
Particle therapy is a radiotherapy method using particles implanted in the body, which has outstanding curative effect on small tumors. At present, proton heavy ion radiotherapy with particle radiation is one of the most advanced radiotherapy methods in the world. Moving proton or heavy ion rays can kill tumor cells accurately, at the same time, they can effectively protect normal tissues and directionally remove cancer cells without damaging normal cells.
Particle radiotherapy also has some limitations and is effective for tumors smaller than 5 cm. Compared with surgery, it does not need to be removed by a knife. However, it is necessary to note that the detailed information of this organization is not available. Another disadvantage of particle therapy is that it is easy to cause new metastasis and recurrence of cancer cells, which leads to further deterioration of the disease.
Particle therapy is very effective for thyroid cancer. Besides thyroid cancer, it can also be used for prostate cancer, various soft tissue tumors (sarcomas), brain tumors (gliomas), breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, tongue cancer, oral cancer, laryngeal cancer, nasopharyngeal cancer, cervical cancer, ovarian cancer and metastatic lymph nodes.
Although modern medical technology is developed, not all diseases have good treatment methods, so prevention is greater than treatment. It is the key to keep healthy, stay away from diseases, pay attention to strengthening physical exercise and improve immunity.
