How many kinds of peach trees are there in the world?
The climate of peach producing area is dry in summer and cold in winter, so peach trees have the characteristics of light resistance, drought resistance and cold resistance. Peach varieties with certain characteristics have been formed under long-term cultivation and different climatic conditions, among which northern varieties and southern varieties are the main ones. (1) Northern variety groups: for example, Northern Feicheng Peach, Shenzhou Mixun K, etc. All belong to this variety show. Peach trees in northern varieties have small crown openings, straight growth, obvious advantages at the top, easy to appear strong at the top and weak at the bottom, and the lower branches are easy to age and die, leading to baldness, and the resulting parts are easy to move out. After peach trees in the northern variety group entered the fruiting period, short fruit branches were the main ones. The well-developed secondary branches at the initial fruiting stage can also form fruiting branches. The trunk of young trees in the northern variety group should be short and the main branches should be few. We can make full use of secondary branches as extension branches of main branches, increase the opening angles of main branches and lateral branches, make the main branches bend and extend, and cultivate large and medium-sized fruiting branches at the turning point. In addition to the opening angle of the main branch, we should also pay attention to thinning out the competitive branches and flourishing branches at the top of the main branch, and adopt the method of restraining the former and promoting the latter to prevent baldness and weakness at the back. The northern varieties are mainly short fruit branches and bouquets, and large and medium-sized fruit branches are better. Therefore, the pruning amount should be light, and the pruning method of putting first and then shrinking can be adopted to slow down the short branches, avoid the stimulation of pruning again, and prevent the excessive promotion of the leafy branches. (2) Southern species group: mainly distributed in the Yangtze River valley, and most of the varieties introduced from Japanese bow I belong to this species group, such as Shanghai rice, Okubo, etc. The crown is relatively open, the growth potential is relatively stable, and it enters the fruiting stage earlier, with long fruit branches and medium fruit branches as the main ones, and the fruit branches are mostly multi-bud. When pruning young trees of southern variety groups, the height of fixed stem can be appropriately higher, and the pruning of main branches and lateral branches should be kept for a long time, and the opening angle should not be too large. Young trees begin to bear fruit earlier, the fruit setting rate is higher, and the death rate of winter flowers is lower. Therefore, pruning should be biased, and some long fruit branches can be properly thinned, and attention should be paid to fruit thinning, so as to avoid excessive fruit, resulting in nutrient loss, tree weakness and reduced yield.
