siwu ointment is illegally added. Siwu ointment is composed of Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Rhizoma Chuanxiong, Radix Paeoniae Alba and Radix Rehmanniae Preparata. Chuanxiong, Angelica sinensis and Radix Paeoniae Alba are used in health care products and are not allowed to be added to food. Siwu ointment is a brown-black thick semi-fluid, which tastes sweet and slightly bitter. It can nourish blood and regulate menstruation, and relieve sallow complexion, palpitation, shortness of breath, dizziness and irregular menstruation. The following items shall not be added to food:

1. Non-food raw materials shall not be added.

2. No drugs may be added.

3. Chemical additives other than food additives specified in GB276 shall not be added for domestic sales.

4. Food additives have to be added according to the scope and limit of use specified in GB276 for domestic sales.
