Explain that TCM treatment emphasizes syndrome differentiation and treatment, that is, understanding the patient's condition through the four diagnosis methods of inspection, smell, inquiry, and palpation. This is called prescribing the right medicine. Otherwise that would be completely ridiculous.
This allusion comes from "Xue Tao's Comic History".
A monk, a Taoist priest, and a doctor were crossing the river together. They encountered a strong wind on the way, and the ferry was in a critical situation. The boatman kowtowed to the monk and Taoist priest and said, "Two masters, please pray to the gods to stop the strong wind."
The monk then recited a mantra: "Remember the power of Guanshiyin Bodhisattva, and the wind and waves will stop immediately. "
The Taoist priest recited a mantra: "Gods of wind and rain, everyone return to their posts, hurry up like laws and regulations!"
The doctor also chanted: "Schipeta, mint, Golden milk flowers and neem seeds!"
The boatman asked: "What are these used for?"
The doctor replied: "These medicines I have are all for anesthesia. Medicine for wind!”
Most of the quacks who prescribe medicine are like this person.
