When was the Nanjing Bell and Drum Tower built?
Nanjing Drum Tower and Bell Tower, collectively known as Nanjing Bell and Drum Tower, are located on the drum mountain of the central axis of Nanjing City and were built at 1382. Nanjing Drum Tower is a large-scale and magnificent place where drums were used to tell the time in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is used to tell the time for the people of the whole city day and night, and sometimes it is used as a symbol of the capital of the Ming Dynasty, such as welcoming the king and receiving letters.

In the early years of the Qing Dynasty, the Drum Tower was left with the lower gate. Later, due to Emperor Kangxi's southern tour, the Drum Tower was rebuilt and renamed as "Monument Building", which was called "Ming Drum and Qing Monument" in history.

Nanjing Bell Tower, also known as "Dazhong Pavilion", is located on the west side of Nanjing Drum Tower, which is exquisite and unique, but on a smaller scale. The bell tower and the big clock in Nanjing were once known as one of the "Forty Scenes of Jinling" and were called "Ancient Pavilion Morning Bell".
