The germination ability of black pine is weak, so the original branches and stems should be used for hanging modeling, the redundant branches, stems and roots should be shrunk and cut, and their growth direction should be adjusted. The upward growing branches should be adjusted to be flat or drooping. In addition to direct-drying bonsai, other forms of bonsai should avoid rigid lines on trunks, branches and roots, so as to achieve both rigidity and flexibility.
Matters needing attention in pruning black pine:
Pruning of black pine is mainly based on picking buds. Generally, the black pine pile in the new basin does not pick buds within one year, and its leaf roots are developed. In March and April of the following year, the new bud was elongated, but the needle had not been pulled out. Generally speaking, the length of each terminal bud should be removed by about half. If you don't need to increase the pile of branches, you can remove all the terminal buds. For the branches that affect the beautiful posture of the pile landscape, they can be cut off during the winter dormancy period and sealed with wax or glue. Black pine doesn't like fertilizer. After it survives, thin and decomposed cake fertilizer can be applied twice in spring and once again in autumn.
The modeling of black pine bonsai can be carried out in1-March, when the sap flow is slow, and there is basically no rosin overflowing from the branches, which has little effect on its growth.
