Nanjing is rich in yellow fragrance, one of plum blossom varieties, which is a Huang Xiangxiang variety [Huang Xiang Variety Group] of Zhenmei. Its crown is flat, its trunk has irregular ribs, its flowers are shallow bowl-shaped, double petals and sweet, and its color is light milky yellow when it blooms. This variety was discovered by Mr. Chen Junyu when he investigated Meihua Mountain in the early 1990s, which filled the blank of Huangxiangmei among domestic plum varieties.

The yellow flower is double or pale yellow or nearly white, with a pale yellow flower center and a crimson calyx. The main varieties are Huangshan Huang Xiang, Wang Cao Huang Xiang, Shan Huang Xiang and Nanjing Huang Fu.

Matters needing attention in planting plum blossoms in Huang Xiang

Generally, 2-5-year-old seedlings are planted, and the planting method can be solitary planting, cluster planting or group planting. When planting Meilin, Meiling or Meishan in a large area, it should be planted on sunny or semi-sunny slopes with a spacing of 3-5 meters.

It should be dense and natural. After digging tree holes and applying base fertilizer, plant and water them to strengthen management. Pruning of plum trees should be natural and pleasant, and pruning should generally be mild, with thinning as the main method and short cutting as the supplement.
