Tree shape: Ginkgo biloba should be made into oblique, horizontal and curved trees to look simple. Branches and leaves can be tied into sheets or trimmed into natural shapes.
The first is the method of making ginkgo seedling bonsai. From March to April every year, before the buds of Ginkgo biloba leaves germinate, 2-3-year-old seedlings are selected as raw materials and cultivated by the method of removing branches and keeping dry. First, the top of the main branch is cut off, then the thick iron wire is deeply inserted into the ground along the tree base, and then the main branch is tightly wound up, and a series of different forms of bonsai prototypes such as cliff, lying down and dragon swimming are made according to the tree shape. From July to August, that is, before midsummer, the iron wire tied in spring can be loosened, and the new branches that were sent in that year can be shaped after the leaves fall in late autumn and tied with fine iron wire. In March-April of the following year, before the leaf buds germinate, they are taken out and cultivated in a pot with soil balls, which will soon become a pot of ginkgo bonsai with simple shape and sparse branches and leaves.
The second is the making method of ginkgo stump bonsai. When people transform and prune ginkgo trees, they often cut off many branches, so they can choose the best shape as the middle anvil, so that they can quickly make bonsai of ginkgo stumps.
