The difference of rigidity of cast iron "empty Leng Gang" cold working die
ICD5 is a brand of Riya in Japan, also called air-cooled steel, which is equivalent to the type of steel: 7CrSiMnMoV (code name CH- 1). It is a kind of high carbon low alloy steel with casting instead of forging. It is suitable for stamping steel plates below 1.2mm, and is widely used in automotive sheet metal panels, daily light industrial sheet metal stamping dies, etc. The service life is tens of thousands of times. Product attributes: Air-cooled steel has few precious alloy elements and low production cost. The hardness of tempered air-cooled steel is HBC 50 ~ 65, and the hardened layer with uniform hardness, no microcracks, high toughness and high depth can be obtained only by flame heating and air cooling, thus greatly prolonging the service life of the die.

Commonly used steels for cold stamping dies in China are Cr 12, CrWMn, Cr 12MoV, etc. They are alloy steels with high carbon content, characterized by high hardness, good wear resistance and high strength, and can withstand greater impact. Air-cooled steel can only be used for stamping steel with a thickness below 1.2mm, and its strength is not as good as that of die steel.
